This site should have been renamed 'draftcricketforums.com'.

To the point, if it were me, I'd implement a 20 test minimum rule and do something similar in terms of overs bowled/wickets taken and run milestones.

Minimum 3000 runs or some shit like that.

I can imagine a ZIMDOGGY XI:

1. Lou Vincent
2. Herschelle Gibbs
3. Hansie Cronje (c)
4. Mohammad Azharuddin
5. Marlon Samuels
6. Manoj Prabhakar
7. Thami Tsolekile (w)
8. Lonwabo Tsotsobe
9. Danish Kaneria
10. Mohammad Amir
11. Mohammad Asif
Neil Johnson, Alistair Campbell, Murray Goodwin, Andy Flower (w), Grant Flower, Dave Houghton, Guy Whittall, Heath Streak (c), Andy Blignaut, Ray Price, Eddo Brandes

Does this mean I could have selected Mahela Jayawardene as a bowler and taken advantage of his 1/5 at 5.00 bowling stats over the 2010-2020 period?
I guess technically you could have, but you'd have to specify his role as a specialist bowler.

You could pick an XI based entirely on "1 innings wonders", but where would be the fun in that?

As jaybro was saying, people will just pick a team based on stats. I have mostly picked players I like, and its been a challenge since sometimes I've had to overlook some very good players (eg Jasprit Bumrah or Rohit Sharma).

What if a player was unbeaten for 5 runs in that random innings?
@Kriterion_BD
Players with infiinite averages (unbeaten batsmen) or bowler with no wickets in that spell - will just be scored on the strike or economy rates, respectively.

A maths whiz such as yourself could surely come up with some formula to avoid Madhevere statistically outranking Kane Williamson. I don't have any money riding on this but I am genuinely interested in having a sound statistical method of selecting the best team.
I've got one, but its unnecessary for this draft I think. Too much computation for a guy who probably won't be picked in the draft.

Tbh, Jayawardene is on my middle order long-list (not quite at the top, though), but I promise I won't bowl him in any case.

If you take a Jayawardene and put him in you XI as a specialist bowler, it could wreck the balance of your side, because you will be a bowler short. You could pick 5 batsmen with single innings wonder spells, but then I'd catch on and as foreignfield rightly saw my rule #6, I'd change the scoring to prevent that side from gaining an unfair advantage.

The real object of this Draft is to pick a realistic XI of your favorite players, and score them realistically to see who's is the strongest. The playoffs came about because jaybro pointed out that just picking players on stats is not very fun or fulfilling.

Saleem Malik was originally selected, but then I thought Marlon Samuels was more the DOGG's style.

That actually has great balance as a team :D. Rashid Latif could be a better keeper option for the filter applied?
