This seems like a most just formula which accurately reflects who the superior team is.

These are definitely more relatable numbers, foreignfield!
Think of my simulation this way:
Eugene scores 340 from his 50 overs.
Jaybro scores 195 all out.
Eugene wins by 145 runs. A thrashing in an ODI.
The maths would be so much easier if we played timeless Tests (definitely should when the Test draft comes around); the limited batting resources are the difficult part.
There's no way eugene gets to 340 in 50 overs (at least not in my book ); his top 7 scored 345 between them. However they needed over 61 overs to get there ... hard to see him score much in excess of 300 (which is coincidentally also the econ. rate of jaybro's bowlers).
But anyway, I presume eugene will now face the statistical empire grant built in the quarter finals:
grant vs. eugene
brmtaylor vs. Zimbos
rusty vs. Kriterion
foreignfield vs. mueddie

(Please correct me if I'm wrong.)
Yeah, I'm not looking at the actual number of balls/overs batted (except to calculate a strike rate). This is very much a hybrid/theoretical simulation, but one that is totally grounded on actual statistics from real matches.
I feel eugene has a very strong side, despite his 8th place finish in the rankings. The simulations will actually prove the most well rounded side.

Which formula?
Yours. The one which had me slaughtering jaybro. My side is oozing with batting talent and would be hard to keep under 350 in any ODI.

The one in which you got lucky?
Look at the bowling figures; Dale Steyn must have been bowling with left arm
Clint McKay might have good figures but he was bang average; I honestly was shocked he averaged 24 or what ever it was. He was a very average bowler in a very good side
Clint McKay was Australia's best ODI Bowler for a 2-3 year stretch. The stats back it up. Enjoy your wooden spoon!
