He could also go the Irish route as a passport holder. I'm sure they'd welcome him with open arms. Much like their football team, they've made it a policy to look for potential players from the Irish diaspora, such as Curtis Campher.

For now. At the moment the world’s all sunshine and rainbows for Byrom. I hope it continues but if he was to ever fall flat from county cricket he has Zimbabwe Cricket to fall back on.
This is the sad reality. Zim cricket is not something players look up to. They see it as a fall back. If they can get a county contract, why not. They won't get screwed around by the board, they wont get overlooked for other players who don't perform. Imagine how shit you would feel if you were not selected over Maruma.

It truly is a sad state but I understand why others would look to make a career of it elsewhere. Not like other countries are rejecting these players. They welcome them with open arms, give them a proper set up and structure. A decent wage and a proper domestic structure.

Our board gets too concerned over the colour of the skin and protecting their mates to be concerned with actually wanting to win and do well.

He has an Irish grandparent?

This will infuriate the forum; but guess who top scored and won the match for his side during the practice match in Harare

This is the problem. A lot of guys we actually criticize a lot here do very well in those kind of games but just can’t kick on at international level. A lot of them

It's actually sad that we deathride these guys and grunt when they get some runs.
It's not our fault. It's the ridiculous scenario we have been put in by both Elton for not retiring and above alll else, the dumb people who select him. Like exploiting a mental illness.

Elton, after years of semi-retirement and half-baked comebacks, is still easily one of the 3-5 best hitters in Zim; that's a reality and shows up the lack of depth and alternatives. Elton could always hit a cricket ball; it shouldn't suprise anyone that he can still do it occasionally against our own bowlers.
