what if...

I had a thought, im a little curious about...

What if it was a black zimbabwe vs a black South Africa?

Who would win?

What country is best reaching out to the brothers at roots level?

Take away Hachim amla and the like....you will find that all the zimbabwean team would have had international experience with mixed success but the brothers in the south african domestic scene would also be of a good quality.

I think the cream of the crop like elton and Taibu will be better than the cream of SAs crop but the overall standard would be better in the SA team (i.e Chibhaba and Dabengwa wouldnt make the SA squad).

Its an interesting thought......

i would try and post a possible line up but i would fail with the SA squad as im not familiar with their domestic scene.

i believe that brothers in Zim have a stronger interest in general over the past ten years...but im not sure.

I am waiting for the cries of racism in response to this thread, similar to when I posted a thread about a white team versus a black team.

Back to your post, I would hope the Zimbabweans would win due to their extensive national experience. That being said, South Africa has a massive player base in comparison and many potentially solid international players are missing out on representing the Proteas. Zimbabwe's black players however, mostly got into the team because there was no one else to select after the rebel exodus, so despite their experience they may not be the better players. If I had to bet money on the result I would back Zimbabwe I think.

I play in SA n in the USSASA n Cric SA club champs..the leagues which will give you most players of colour wud be KZN coastal n WP(indians and Cape coloureds/malay)..mind you in both leagues, you will have about 4 Zimbabweans in them inclusive....but us Zim lads make up a couple of players(actual brothers) there in those leagues bar from Sodumo, Monde, Thami n Phangaz etc ...n you also have the Craig Alexanders n Vandiar's etc it will b a very competitive game indeed.

However by sheer numbers an accessibility of the game Zim is way ahead

Zimbabwe is miles ahead of SA in promotion of cricket to its indegenous people. If in doubt read Peter Roebuck's articles. He lives in Natal and incidentally, he's rabidly anti-Zim most of the times.

Defo Zimbabwe. I said this before, but I bet South Africa are jealous that we can manage to play a decent bunch of white and black players at once compared to them who, even though they don't admit it, play a black player because hes black.

If we didnt roll over a Black SA team unless we just crumble.

The problem with black bros in SA is that they will not have ANYTHING to do with all things white, except for a few who go to private schools. Rugby and Cricket is a nono for most of the bros cos of its association with apartheid white SA. Thast why some won'te even speak English to you even if they can and will definitely NOT speak Afrikaans. So, for the next few generations, we cannot expect 4 black bros in the SA team unless there is a DRASTIC shift in both SA WHite and SA blacks mind and perceptions.

The system is not primes at furthering SA brothers in their numbers post SA Colts and those that play till under 19 i.e Siya Simethu etc (SA junior cricketer of the year 2010) either end up @ my Uni or get to another Uni as Cricketing students as they deem it offers more stability and they can play pro whilst studying(security)..once finished Uni they mostly go the corporate route..i.e Abongile Sodumo etc..its not as if they hate anything white, in my experiences they have moved way past that!Go to Nyanga Gugulethu etc and they will tell you that they are playing cricket coz they wanna be the next Nthini etc but once they get noticed they use that to get a life foreign from the ekasi....sorry ekhasi is the locations where a majority of these black players come from
