Re: State of SA
Olivier has really regressed. 76mph lolly pops. The country system really did ruin him when he was a Kolpak.
Re: State of SA
County system really does seem to pour water on spicy bowlers
We saw it with Jarvis too

Re: State of SA
Does anyone come back from country cricket a better bowler?
Neil Johnson, Alistair Campbell, Murray Goodwin, Andy Flower (w), Grant Flower, Dave Houghton, Guy Whittall, Heath Streak (c), Andy Blignaut, Ray Price, Eddo Brandes
Re: State of SA
my theory is the county system moulds bowlers for county conditions and county only.
They probably are better bowlers within that fishbowl but worse off beyond it.

Re: State of SA
Olivier went badly in county cricket overall though. By the end of his contract, he was mainly in Yorkshire's 2s. He definitely wasn't moulded into a really good County Championship bowler. Dane Paterson is currently a very successful county bowler though.
Re: State of SA
Proteas have put up a much better fight in this second test, could still possibly win it, although will need some Piedt magic.
