Bangladesh lost a similar # last year vs India. Nayeem, A batsman and I think Abu Jayed all got bounced to injury. On top of that Shakib was banned, and Tamim asked to be rested.

That is nowhere near the misery the Lankans are going through. They were already without their best batsman and best bowler in the XI (Mathews and Lakmal). They lost their only top class 2-dimensional player Dhananjaya de Silva when he was on song. Lost his bowling too. Then lost two more pacers during the match. They also lost their spinner for a while too from what I read, so they were playing with 1.5 bowlers on the field as all their casualties were bowlers!

Shanaka bowling 28 overs is like Hammy bowling those many overs in an innings. This has been a disaster for them. With a full side, they would have fancied beating SA again, probably more easily than last time.

Bangladesh were able to substitute both players who were concussed

Sri Lanka haven’t been able to substitute any

I can’t recall how long ago it was, sometime between 5-15 years ago, West Indies were depleted similarly in their bowling stocks and all the batsmen were bowling their dibble dobbkies at the opposition. Cant recall the opposition but I think it was one of the curry teams.

The ICC would have to move on from rigidity on this issue and try to accommodate substitutes in cases like this. The whole thing became completely one-sided. Of course some teams can take advantage of this and let low performers during a match to fake injuries, or sub someone after their designated role is done, etc. But it is possible to handle such scenarios with the right kind of thoughts and rules put in. It is just sad to see a team suffer like this when they can at least put up a fight.

Both physio’s need to agree on it, then it would be equal footing. This game turned into a complete joke.

It’s a no for me, Sri Lanka were unlucky in this test match, but it’s very rare players get injured.

It won’t be long until we see someone take advantage of the concussion sub rule, but the injury one will be even more easy to exploit
