Re: State of SA

I don't understand what CSA are thinking here, Bavuma is not even a regular in ODIs and T20s yet has been appointed as the captain, he would have struggled for a place in the side had it not been for transformation targets.

I know there aren't too many options but they could have looked at players like Markram, Rabada, Verryene, or may be Van Der Dussen.

Bavuma leading the side for two T20 WCs and one ODI WC is a complete shocker.

Van Der Dusson would have been the other candidate for LOI'S, but that was never going to happen.
SA are gripped by this transformation policy which is crippling their selection process, but at least in ODI cricket Bavuma is decent. I simply don't rate him in test cricket and really do find it annoying when you have a genuine black talent in Keegan Peterston in the squad who can't get a look in.
I watched Bavuma in the MSL and he looked really good and fearless. If he bats like that then I have no issue at all with him as skipper, as he appears confident and looks to relish the fight. But in test cricket? Nah, not good enough. He needs to take a look at the mental toughness of Rassie, who is on a whole different level

I agree @sloan. This is the other thing I don't get about CSA. They have genuinely good black cricketers, yet they somehow still manage to pick the coloured players who are not actually that good. Obviously KG is the best of the lot, but then they end up picking others who are just not cut out for international cricket.

I guess it’s the same in Zimbabwe, plenty of black cricketers have been mistreated by the selectors

That's sport though to an extent/life. You could argue some Australian cricketers have been mistreated as well.

Main difference is that we are run by headless buffoons who when things got bad, made them worse. All other countries would fix their shit.

Kyle Verreynne is smashing hundreds after hundreds, how long can they keep him out of the test team? He is someone who can make it really big at international level.

Yup, South Africa's prospects look a lot better now, there is Janneman, Verreynne, Markram and Peter Malan can also get a look in.

If they are looking for colored players then as you said Zorzi and Stuurman are there and Hamza seems to be finding some form again.

Mulder is a fine all rounder too.

I could talk all day about lads who nobody on here would have heard of before, guys who are about 19 or 20 and will feature in the next under 19 CWC.

I'm actually pleased they are moving away from the likes of Steyn and Du Plessis. They have been amazing players and were part of a golden era really for South African Cricket. Well, steyn was for sure.

Jannaman Malan is going to be as good as Herschelle Gibbs, I'm telling you now and you heard it here from me. His off side play is almost a mirror image of a young Gibbs. Big call, but it'll happen.

Verreyne is a test player right now! How he doesn't get game time is a mystery. Van Tonder is as good ig not better than Markram and Matty Breezke will be the next LO batting sensation. Then there's Keegan Peterson
Depth is not am issue here, they have it, they have the talent to mold. Its their system which is hindering and crippling their development.
Marco Jansen, for example, will be rapid in 2 years. When he fills out and when he really grows into his action he'll be a handful....I just don't know where they will fit him in
