This is very simple, on his batting exploits alone this man should be in the national T20 team; and why haven't we seen it before?

He seems to be a breath of fresh air amidst over hyped 'Meth addiction'

Butterworth is a good player yes.
Has he got the cutting edge to succeed at the international arena....no.
Will be a very good first class cricketer though

Of course Sloandog, Ryan took the match away from Rhinos. he is a good player and as for the international arena, we wont know unless he is tried.

It does seem odd that Ryan Butterworth has never been given a chance with the national team. Over the last ten years almost everyone has been given a shot at some point (Samunderu, Rinke, Maregwede for example).

T20 might be a good format for him, I think we are too strong now for him to crack the ODI team.

If Coventry could play T20 for Zim so can Butterworth. He's already proved to be the biggest hitter in the tournament and clearly he can play spin. We just need to see his technique against the fast bowlers. If he can survive them there's no reason he cannot succeed in international T20

When did Samunderu play?

Actually he didn't. I was sure I remembered him playing at some point. But cricinfo only have him playing for the U19 side. Was Samunderu ever named in a Zimbabwe squad but not play? I ma sure he was in the conversation for national honours at some point.

Butterworth cant play for zim anyway as he has a british passport and under zim law, he cant have dual citizenship

You don't need to be a Zimbabwean citizen to be eligible for the national cricket team.
