1. Craig Ervine : I would say he kept his cool and played with the conditions and not against them as most of our batsmen do . If he maintains this form , he has a definite ticket for the world cup in the sub continent .He needs to convert these forties into 50s and 100s
2. Regis Chakabva : Good cover for Taibu .I would say it was a fair performance since he has not played so many international games. if he keeps bringing good performances this obviously puts pressure on Taibu
3. Brenadan Taylor ; I would not rate his performance as good considering his class and potential . BT you are not a 20s -30s players . 50+ is what we were expecting from you . did not do too bad with the ball for a part timer
4 Chibhabha ; out of touch today , hope he gets on his feet . I feel he should have got more of the ball.
5 .Dabengwa ; 30 of 69 wont do us justice in a ODI . Today was good with the ball though . I think one of the guys in the changing room had a chat with him
6 Taibu ; Out in the 20s > I have always said 20s wont win us a game . Considering his experience he should have done better . Chakabva is on your neck .
7 Utseya .was not the usual tight Prosper that we know . Is always improving with the bat . Hope he starts getting fifties . Soon he can be able to go for the allrounder role . Remember Prosper started his cricket career as a batsmen .
8.Meth .give him more time , he is something there is always something special in him . give him more games
9 Mpofu I think he has improved on his control and is now taking wickets regulary . Someone should teach him to bat so that our tail wags longer .
10 Price a wicket and a run rate of under 5 . i expected more from Ray due to his experience . more wickets from you Ray
11. Chigumbura . You are living up to your name . "Uri kugumbura" translatated you are disspointing. These are perfomances we dont expect from the skipper

I'm not taking a pop at your Zimfanatic because you're a good guy, it's just i don't agree with your point. He's not part of our future, and to be honest, there are guys who can do what he does, and better. i.e Ryan Butterworth

Dabengwa's batting was painful to watch, although Taibu didnt look any better to be honest. Why was he reverse sweeping all the time? Who does he think he is? Andy Flower?

Dabengwa: 30 runs (Zim's 3rd-highest score), then 1/17 from 7 overs at 2.42/over - the best economy of the Zimbabwean bowlers by quite some margin (next was Mpofu at 4.42/over; our usually-parsimonious spinners got taken to the cleaners - Price was 4.55, Utseya 6.25). When your strategy relies on choking the opposition's run-rate, as ours does, that's exactly what you want.

Compared to what the rest of the team managed, that's a pretty good contribution.

But the flipside of that is:
- it was in a losing cause; and
- Dabengwa has a habit of playing the occasional blinder and then doing absolutely nothing for 5-6 matches after that.

Let's see how he does the rest of the series. Because injuries excepted, I suspect he will be playing in the remaining 3 games.

Taibu's batting since he came back from his last dispute with the board has been suspect. He's far too keen to play elaborate (read: silly) shots and gives away his wicket far too easily, and I'd love to know why - it seem that he's more interested in showing off on the pitch than he is in really contributing.

He has real batting talent, and his wicket-keeping is good enough that even if his batting went to pot there'd be a case for selecting him as a specialist 'keeper anyway, but someone really needs to tell him to get back to basics with the batting and stop trying to be so flamboyant. He'd be a lot more useful that way.

You are right maehara, his batting has been suspect since his return. I can't figure out what is going on with Taibu's batting. He hasn't contributed significantly to a winning cause in a while and seems to just score 20s and 30s and not really show any determination. I didn't keep statistics yesterday (I might watch a replay of the game so I can do this) but Taibu seemed to attempting the reverse sweep about 40% of the time. Why doesn't he just play some real shots, the Bangladeshi spinners were made to look nuch more menacing than they were by many of our batsmen. It was a relief when Craig Ervine came out and played some real cricket against them after watching Taibu reverse sweeping everything and Dabengwa charging down the wicket and blocking everything.

I'll be honest with you, Meth has disapointed me
His action is aweful. I don't know how Heath Streak is going to be able to show him how to bowl quick with an action like that. I mean he was bowling between 66-70 Mph today. I can bowl a lot quicker than that ! That's Twanda Mupariwa pace, no it's slower...

The Meth is just lulling the Bangladeshi's into a false sense of security. He will then strike when they least expect it.

Lets hope so, because of what i've seen of his bowling, it looks like he's going to be a meduin pacer at best.
