If Tari opened then even better. Why didn’t Prince play this game? A Tari- Prince opening Pair might do ok. So that would mean Burl and Wes would be competing for 1 spot then. Has Williams recovered?

Mashinge also getting 5 wickets and a 50. He deserves a chance. He is direct competition for Tiripano. I would say Mashinge is a slightly better bowler whilst Don is a slightly better Batsman.

‘A’cricket would have answered a lot of our questions.

Prince is nearly 33 and somewhat obese.
We have seen the fattening of the Zim player befiore and it doesnt seem to end well.

Also his age is a serious factor here.
I know 33 isnt much in terms of batting, but given the fab 4 are 34+ now, it is very vital that everyone around them are under 30 i think.

It is harsh, because he didnt fail last year, and perhaps he can stay as stop gap backup for injury the next two years, but I think he has left his run too late. He had a decade beforehand to step up, we always needed openers.

1. Burl
2. Tari
3. Craig
4. BT
5. Sean
6. Wez
7. raza

or,
1. Wez
2. Tari/Burl
3 Craig
4 BT
5 Sean
6 Raza
7 Shumba

Or,
1 Tari
2 Burl
3 Craig
4 BT
5 Sean
6 Raza
7 Wes
8 Shumba

+fucking off Don and regis. 9,10,11 can be our best 3 pacers. Theres enough spin options in that lineup.

Although kids being blooded at the opening role doesnt sit that well with me, it might be an idea to have Raza, Craig or BT up top too.

We know Burl has shown eagerness to open and Wes doesnt seem to care, so maybe thats the answer.

BT, Ervine & PJ all out of the Afghanistan tour due to illness/injury. Think the issue will be that they missed the bio secure camp so could not be added.
Squad for Afghanistan Tour:
Sean Williams, Ryan Burl, Sikandar Raza, Regis Chakabva, Kevin Kasuza, Wessly Madhevere, Wellington Masakadza, Prince Masvaure, Brandon Mavuta, Tarisai Musakanda, Richmond Mutumbami, Blessing Muzarabani, Richard Ngarava, Victor Nyauchi, Donald Tiripano

Milton Shumba, Faraz Akram and Tinashe Kamunhukamwe will join the squad later for the T20I series.

Wow. Interesting. There has never been a better time for Burl and Tari to put their hands up. Could be a career defining tour. For Wes too.

If that’s the case then I would have a lineup like this.

Prince
Tari
Burl
Williams
Wes
Raza
Regis (wk)
Don
Mavuta
Blessing
Ngarava

Big big opportunities for some of these guys to prove themselves. 5 spinners in that team.

No Chisoro will affect the balance for me

It is going to be a long tour, would love the host Afghanistan and Bangladesh in tests, I think we would win but away from home we are lambs to the slaughter.

I honesty don’t think the test matches will be easy for any team. Their batting is very shaky if you have watched their test matches. Completely different set of skills required in the longer format. Both games will be very close. Just watch

Take Rashid Khan out and it's more even, but any chance Zimbabwe had was reliant on BT being able to somewhat defuse Rashid. Also now that they haven't picked Chisoro and Raza is trying to Narine, Zim's spin bowling won't be as potent

Wes & Tari are definitely great young players who play spin and pace equally well, but both are weak against a leggie who can turn it both ways.
