4.1 Chigumbura to Smith, OUT, wide outside off and driven in the air to mid off without control and Matsikenyeri takes the catch
DS Smith c Matsikenyeri b Chigumbura 1

..and they're away for lunch. We've gotten early wickets in every match now, which is good we just need a lot more of 'em to save this one.. :(

Zim 139 all out.

At least the bowlers are making the Windies struggle for every run

West Indies 100/4
Chanderpaul 17
Bravo 16

Utseya 2/27
Price 0/17

Thanks zimdan, hopefully they will put it up earlier for the next games. You won't have to worry though! You'll be there! :D
Be sure to let us know what it was like :)

Did they ever email you back, out of interest?

Regarding todays performance... well, at least the 2nd ODI was a respectable loss. Today's was pretty pathetic. I think we are carrying too many passengers. The worst part though, is there isn't an obvious omission. Everybody has contributed at some point during the first 3 matches... even Taibu did his bit today.

My choice for the 4th ODI:

1. Vusi Sibanda
2. Brendan Taylor
3. Chamu Chibhabha
4. Tatenda Taibu (wk)
5. Keith Dabengwa
6. Stuart Matsikenyeri
7. Elton Chigumbura
8. Gary Brent
9. Prosper Utseya (c)
10. Ray Price
11. Christopher Mpofu

It's time to give Masakadza a rest (someone had to make room) and give Chris Mpofu a game. At the moment, we have one strike bowler - and that's Elton Chigumbura. With 6 wickets, he is equal leading wicket taker (with Powell and Taylor) for the series. Gary Brent is a good bowler, and can arrest the run rate. However, we are truly exposed come time for the first change. Chibhabha is a batsman who can bowl a bit, he's not a first change bowler.

Chris Mpofu is an opening bowler. He's about the quickest Zimbabwe has, and above all, he has a half way decent ODI bowling average (36.73, he could lower it a bit).

Chigumbura and Mpofu to share the new ball for 12 overs, then bring Brent on to get us to the end of the power plays, with a combination of Mpofu/Chigumbura/Chibhabha bowling at the other end.

At over 20, bring on Price to slow things down, and Utseya from the other end. Chigumbura is a true-allrounder. His presence allows us to play 4 specialist batsmen.

We have to get rid of this stupid plan of using part-timers to get through the overs. Sure, bring them on if we need a breakthrough, but don't rely on them.

Chigumbura, Utseya, Price, Brent and Mpofu can all bowl 10 overs. Chibhabha and Dabengwa are more than capable with the ball. As is Sean Williams, but I don't know where he stands as far as injury and selection status goes. Sibanda, Taylor, Chibhabha, Taibu, Dabengwa, Matsikenyeri and Chigumbura are capable of putting on a decent total. We just need one bloke to stick around and make a score. Perhaps putting Taibu at number 3 wouldn't be a bad idea either.

It's time to try something different. The plan may have worked in the first game, but WI have acclimatised now, we have to throw something different at them.

Yes i will be going to the next 2 games, and i do agree with some of your comments on selection.

Our bowling i feel is fine, just some silly batting mistakes and slow run rates is our problem.

Today was no exception, all our runs were coming from wides and the players were getting frustrated at not getting any runs from the bat, so off goes vusi and top edges one to midwicket, so again gave his wicket away.

Gently ease into the game and capalailse on the weak balls as they will come. Easy for me to say i know but its so important to get the basics right otherwise your destined for failure.

In the 4th we might be able to see people like Tawanda Mupariwa play.

agreed with you mpofu should be given the chance if there be 7 batsmen be not working then how can 8 batters can work so put up mpofu in for one batters . they need to be more selective in shot selction too to win the next match.required good effort from them though.
