Re: Zim's World Cup Squad - Released
I don't see an obvious #2, to be honest - whoever it is is going to be out-of-place there, and have to learn to do it quickly.
We apparently have 2 games in Dubai (Holland & tba), then the warmups against South Africa and Ireland, so at least there's opportunity to experiment...

Re: Zim's World Cup Squad - Released
I can't say that there are any surprises (for once) with this squad other than the initial cutting of Hamilton Masakadza. Chibhabha has failed to deliver and could only have been selected on supposed potential. I think it is good to see Coventry and Lamb back in the team. As others have said, the opening combination is the biggest question. Perhaps Coventry can open or maybe Craig Ervine - who whilst not being the typical opener, does have a solid technique and is in good form. To keep this thread in line with all of the other threads on this forum, I am going to name my version of the team.
My starting XI would be:
1. Brendan Taylor
2. Charles Coventry
3. Sean Williams
4. Tatenda Taibu
5. Sean Ervine
6. Craig Ervine
7. Elton Chigumbura
8. Prosper Utseya
9. Graeme Cremer
10. Ray Price
11. Christopher Mpofu

Re: Zim's World Cup Squad - Released
Ohh this hurts me, I picked this exact side to a tee in my fantasy list, I still have it on my desktop but I decided against posting it after my rant last month about every thread descending into a team list of sorts. I'm kicking myself now

This wouldn't be zimcricketforums.com without every thread turning into a team list thread. Although for a while every thread degenerated into something about Matsi.
