Southern Rocks v Mountaineers
Masvingo Sports Club, 4-7 March 2011

Mountaineers have already qualified for the final, Rocks have no chance of reaching it, so this match is moot. Practice game for Mountaineers, really. It's the other match that counts...

Has anyone noticed that Vermeulen has mysteriously disappeared from the Mountaineers line up after the story about protests over pay emerged?

Everything has gone very quiet on that score in the last couple of weeks, does anyone know anything?

Top scorer in Mountaineers innings was Tino Mawoyo (62) - you know, the guy who was too injured to keep his place in Zim's World Cup squad.

I don't think everything's 100% solid behind the scenes still.
And I never knew anything about any protests..?

Two games ago for the Mountaineers. Apparently they hadn't been payed, and Vermeulen made a massive protest, refused to play until the CEO came to the ground, and the other players backed him. He hasn't played since though...

Oh dear, Vermuelan in the thick of things once again i see.
This man needs to be careful, he'll find himself without a job completly sooner or later.

Well he might be already... That's what I'm wondering...

Hopefully it's not the last we see of Vermeulen. Unfortunately his form hasn't been great anyway, but as a guy who not only has Test experience but has proven himself capable at Test level I had always harboured hope that he would play a role in Zimbabwe's return to Test matches. It seems pretty unlikely right now, but imagine an in-form Vermeulen batting at number 4 in our first Test back?

He's been pretty good for the Mountaineers this season, scored at least a couple of Logan Cup centuries. But no, in terms of international cricket I think he's done regardless.
