His test numbers would have at least remained decent had he not played any more international cricket
. Unfortunately these were also two countries where he had played test cricket before (and had done reasonably well) and made sense for IRL to pick him in the XI to make use of that experience. One more innings left for redemption.

Yes but lack of player pool means that he will always be close to selection. Even though he is not selected for one dayers against Ban in May . He is still made the captain of ireland wolves which is their A team

Making him open whilst protecting Stirling at 5 is pretty brutal. Sacrificial lamb to the wolves.
But his returns are not a surprise to any of us who have watched PJ closely over the past 5 years or so. He isn't the player he once was, which is sad.

Are we not playing a test against Ireland this year? If that happens I would pay good money to watch Chivanga get the new ball against PJ

Jeez on a pitch where over a thousand runs have been scored in 4 days, he really should have done better. The Sri Lankan top 4 got triple figures including 2 double hundreds
has that ever happened before?

They have not picked any opener apart from stirling. So he might open which is surely not his strength
