Zimbabwe T20 team for Pakistan series announced

Post by Tinah09 »

ZC has announced a largely good team for the Pakistan series. Williams retains the captaincy, Taylor and Ervine return. Jongwe recalled. At least no Chibhabha, Maruma and other tried and tested faliures. Is Wellington Madakadza the team mascott? Theres no place for a so-callef specialist spin bowler when Wesley, Brurl, Williams and Raza can bat and bowl well

God to see jongwe is back in. There is always space for a specialist spin bowler if they are good enough. Actually Zim really needs one.

We're clearly short on batsmen. I see only 8 specialist batsmen here. I would have picked one of Kasuza and Chari.

It's great to see Chibhabha out of the team.

Congratulations to Marumani on his well-deserved selection! #marumani_mania

Best squad in many a moon.
I would give a reinvented chakbva a chance. He had been trying to score quickly against Afghanistan too this year in the tests and in the first test with Sean Williams it paid off handsomely if we remember.
Just hope he doesn't freeze in the Pakistan 2020 and chew up loads of balls.
Kaia can play the tests but he was pretty ineffectual as a batsman in the 2020 tourney so good call.
Super impressed with marumani call up.

How do we line up.

Taylor
Kamunhukamwe
Ervine
Williams
Marumani
Chakabva
Burl
Masakadza
Tiripano
Ngarava
Muzarabani

Not sure if folks have noticed but Wellington is very economical and can open the bowling also no mug with the bat. i think t20 is not about taking wickets but drying up the runs. DT can also be accurate.

Also gents, i think we should bat first if we win the toss. The pressure of chasing has not been good for us.

I'm delighted with this squad.
Maruamani has absolutely broke the door down and has put the selectors into a situation where he simply can't be ignored.
The selectors have got it right again here, so hats off to them. Really pleased that Taylor and Ervine are both back and equally stoked that Chibahba has lost the captaincy and it has been handed over to Sean Williams. Brilliant move and one which made the most sense.

I've gone off Chibahba massively since his twitter rant.

If I was Ainsley Ndlovu I would be feeling very hard done by.

I disagree u dry up the runs by taking wickets and creating pressure. Bowlers like Wellington are easy for guys like babar Azam because there is a very low chance that u will lose your wicket. He is a mug with the bat. Most tailenders in modern cricket can score a 12 runs a game like he does

To me drop k-long and pick jongwe.so marumani can open with taylor and jongwe down the order with big hitting ability and a bowling option

From what I saw against Afghanistan, I'd rather have a 7 run no wicket over than a 1 wicket 20 run over. And Wellington in his first 3 overs was vey decent only lost it in his last. Then maybe with the pressure build up, the wicket taking bowlers can take wickets at the other end. That being said, 2 holding and 2 attacking bowlers, bowling in partnerships can be a good strategy.
