SJ Marillier

Post by Train Driver »

Anyone know anything of SJ Marillier ?

I came across his name by chance looking at an English 2nd XI scorecard.

According to cricinfo, SJ Marillier is an English player of whom nothing is known. On Cricket Archive he is listed as Stephan James Marillier, born 25/9/84 in Harare. He is shown as the brother of Doug and listed as right hand bat and off break bowler.

He played 3 matches for Zim U15's in the Under 15 World Challenge in England in 2000, opening the batting with Brendan Taylor.

Nothing then until three 2nd XI Championship and two 2nd XI Trophy matches for Derbyshire this season. He scored 109 batting at no 3 against Scotland A after making his debut against Yorkshire 2nd XI, who included Gary Ballance.

There's also record of him playing for Alexandra Sports Club in Harare during the 2003/04 season, but that's all I can see. If he has even half the talent of Doug, then Derbyshire have made a good find...

I actually looked Doug up on Cricket Archive this evening.

I hadn't realised that he made an appearance for Somerset 2nd XI in july 2004.

It was obvious why they didn't ask him to play again as he had a miserable game, he managed just 176* and 44 with the bat and took 1-80 and 2-43 with the ball.

Not up to standard ;)
