Gary Kirsten will pack up and leave the country within a few days, but the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not yet thought of a replacement — or initiated a process for that matter — candidate. Insiders say the board hasn’t made up its mind on any particular person, but a few officials do have a wish list.

It is reliably learnt that the BCCI would not mind if Andy Flower expresses an interest. It couldn’t be confirmed if an approach has been made yet, but a section of the board seems to think that the current England coach, who has achieved the unthinkable for the Poms by winning back-to-back Ashes series, is the right candidate.

The problem, however, seems to be that the former Zimbabwe player has a long contract running with the England and Wales Cricket Board and the BCCI has good relations with the ECB.

Flower could not be contacted as he did not respond to a text message from this paper. Anyway, India are scheduled to visit England later this year for a full-fledged tour.
I read somewhere else that even Duncan Fletcher's name is doing the rounds as a possible replacement for Gary Kirsten.

assuming dunc doesn't end up coaching the curries, could we get him back home coaching the Z's?

I don't see why not?? coaching a test nation that happens to be his former team. He is a good coach too.

Fletch lives.
