Doug Marillier INVENTOR OF SCOOP
Re: Doug Marillier INVENTOR OF SCOOP
Interesting bloke this one.... he only played a handful of games, by and large did nothing (Except when he singlehandedly won a few games), but will leave a legacy.
No one of his calibre will have the legacy he has

Doug Marillier put in a few solid performances. I remember watching him on TV in his debut ODI against NZ in Bulawayo in 2000. Zimbabwe actually won that match.

Re: Doug Marillier INVENTOR OF SCOOP
I was watching intently and Dougie was the first one to try this scoop in its current (most extreme) form.
Then a few aussies started doing it (presumably after seeing doug do his thing) then i think Stuey Carlisle started doing it for Zim.
Then the T20 caught on, the curries started doing it well and that was that.
Brendon Mccullum seems to have mastered it.

Re: Doug Marillier INVENTOR OF SCOOP
Ryan Campbell was the first Australian to do it. Doug Marillier was certainly the first player to use the scoop shot in the international arena.

Re: Doug Marillier INVENTOR OF SCOOP
The first time it was ever attempted was in a test match against New Zealand.
