zimbos playing in u.k

Post by canvas »

Good to see Calum Price, the ex zim under 19 player, take 7 for 21 off 14 overs and score 23 not out to win the match for his team in the north Staffs and South Cheshire premier A league yesterday. This brings his total to 50 wickets for his club since joining in April.

I was just browsing through some score cards of the last 10 or so games involving Yorkshire and noticed that Gary Ballance is scoring half century after half century in the four dayers. With our fragile batting line up someone like him will definitely be a valuable player. I think the selectors should try to get him to play for Zim. Or maybe he'd rather play County Cricket than play for Zim?

What's the go with callum anyhow?

I've said it before , but everytime I hear about this man he's ripping batsman a new one...
Why isn't he near the international lineup? Where's the hype?

Something, anything

Still very young, just broke into the Eagles team at the end of last season.

Let him establish himself at first class level, then maybe start talking about higher honours...

During the Odis with SA he looked the only one that could hack it Nd was consistent

Consistent and Zimbabwe are two words that have never met before. Oil and water.

He wouldn't have looked out of place on the SA team. Seems a genuine prospect on results - never seen him play

Callum Price is an exciting bowler, but a bowler who lacks the pace.
He bowls between 70 and 80Mph, but there's no reason why he can't get quicker

I really wish the speed gun had never been invented...

That way we could judge bowlers on how good they are at getting people out, rather than simply the entirely irrelevant little number that flashes up at the bottom of the screen after every delivery...

Well you say that mate but even the great medium pace bowlers were able to generate reasonable pace. Pollock, Mcgrath were consistently touching 82/83 Mph.

All I'm saying is that I don't think Price is anywhere near international Cricket, nowhere near it! He's perhaps just about ready for Zimbabwean First Class Cricket. Good on the lad though for taking so many wickets, that particular League is very competitive indeed.

82/83 is not decent pace, to be honest. Every county staff probably have at least half a dozen bowlers who bowl at that pace at least...

But you're right. Price has no first class pedigree, so obv should be around the international seen for a while yet.

Need for Speed! I get irritated if there is an official ODI/Test and the speed gun is absent! Its become part of the game. And speed adds to a bowlers bag incredibly if you have the potential to bowl at 150 and you are only hitting 140, analysing the averages of the speed gun data can help coaches help you reach your potential. Its invaluable.
