not a bad start by Tino and Vusi. the run rate is a bit worrying though. i guess they are just trying to see the new ball off and them accelerate later.
Vusi, Mawoyo, H.Masakadza, Taylor, Ervine, Williams, Mutumbami, S.Masakadza, Meth, Price, Jarvis

5 of the aussie players played in there last test and with no taibu taylor price mpofu and williams this should be great game teams very evenly matched when it comes to national experience

U know things are slow when vusi is the aggressor of the two !

Spot on. This is a four day match, who cares about the run rate. I'm sure most people would agree that the best result we can realistically expect is a draw, and 45 overs without a wicket means the openers are doing a wonderful job.ZIMDOGGY wrote:Before forumers shout at me,

I'm surprised that Taylor and Price are not playing and that no specialist spinner has been selected. I hope Taylor is not injured? This would have been a good opportunity for him to get some extra captaincy experience under his belt.
Re: [Match Thread] 1st Match - Zimbabwe XI vs Australia A
I still think we should have just selected our full strength side. As great as it is to see Mawoyo for example doing well, I doubt he will be in our Test XI - unless we go for a very batsmen heavy lineup. Run rate is no problem for me - the more time Zimbabwe's batsmen are at the crease the less likely an embarrasing defeat.
