[ Poll ] Taylor records

Post by brmtaylor.com admin »

As a sidenote to ZIMDOGGY's other thread, this series has boosted Taylor up quite a few of the Zimbabwe record books. He's with some pretty good company in these lists.

To make this thread more interactive, I've added a poll. Which do you think has been Taylor's best innings in his career to date?

Most ODI centuries by a Zimbabwean:
http://stats.espncricinfo.com/zimbabwe/ ... ;type=team
Taylor is 2nd with 6 centuries, tied with Grant Flower and behind Alistair Campbell.

Highest ODI averages by a Zimbabwean:
http://stats.espncricinfo.com/zimbabwe/ ... ;type=team
Taylor is 3rd with 34.29, behind Andy Flower and Neil Johnson.

Most ODI runs by a Zimbabwean:
http://stats.espncricinfo.com/zimbabwe/ ... ;type=team
Taylor is 4th with 3910 runs, behind Andy Flower, Grant Flower and Alistair Campbell.

Most ODI scores of 50 or above by a Zimbabwean:
http://stats.espncricinfo.com/zimbabwe/ ... ;type=team
Taylor is 4th with 29, behind Andy Flower, Grant Flower and Alistair Campbell.

Highest ODI scores by a Zimbabwean:
http://stats.espncricinfo.com/zimbabwe/ ... ;type=team
Taylor is 5th (and 13th, 18th and 20th), 145* vs South Africa

Most runs in an ODI series by a Zimbabwean:
http://stats.espncricinfo.com/zimbabwe/ ... ;type=team
Taylor is 7th (with 295 in the tri-series last year). Incidentally, with two of the three matches played this current series puts him at 24th as well.

Runs scored in ODIs in 2011 by international batsmen:
http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine ... ;type=year
Taylor is 12th with 668 runs at 47.71.

I could have sworn that I've read before that Andy flowers average was lower than grants in ODIs and I can almost swear that Andy averaged 29?

Nope, Andy powered on toward the end of his career and Grant tapered off. But both solidly in the 30s.

I think his knock of 79 was his best. In pressure situations it's always tough to so well, but for his age at the time, I think it was his most important performance, since it's the only knock where it's been a winning cause

His 60 versus Australia. That was such a crucial innings, not only in the context of the game but for the game in the country. It really gave the game a lift and the players a lift too especially coming off so many problems.
A talented batsman but a modest, hardworking character, Stuart Matsikenyeri is the third of three school friends from Churchill Boys High School, Harare to represent Zimbabwe in international cricket. - Cricinfo.
