Zimbabwe squad: Brendan Taylor, Hamilton Masakadza, Vusi Sibanda,
Stuart Matsikenyeri, Malcolm Waller, Elton Chigumbura, Craig Ervine, Regis Chakabva, Chamunorwa Chibhabha, Edward Rainsford, Prosper Utseya, Graeme Cremer, Tafadzwa Kamungozi, Tinotenda Mutombodzi, Raymond Price, Tinotenda Mawoyo, Kyle Jarvis, Christopher Mpofu, Natsai Mushangwe, Richard Muzhange, Brian Vitori, Shingirai Masakadza, Forster Mutizwa, Keegan Meth, Tawanda Mupariwa, Tendai Chatara, Njabulo Ncube, Kevin Kasuza, Richmond Mutumbami
I'm starting to think Choppa had a fall out with the coach or something. It's so very strange that someone like Choppa isn't in a provisional THIRTY man T20 squad.

And Mupariwa is back even though he didn't play that much cricket last season.

No Coventry and no Sikander Raza, although we do have Mushangwe as one of the named squad

I have split feelings about Coventry, he has that aura about him but to my mind he just hasn't lived up to the expectations from both before and after his 194*, i've looked at the highlights of that innings more than once and i think of it in the same way as Botham and that innings at Headingley against the Aussies, spectacular yes, but enormously lucky though with so many runs coming off the wrong part of the bat and to any part of the ground other than where intended, the difference between them is that Botham was able to replicate his innings where Coventry hasn't

In all forms of cricket Coventry has passed 50 on only 31 occasions from 231 innings, let's put that against eveyones whipping boy Stuart Matsikenyeri, he's managed it 74 times from 454 innings, while at the top Brendan Taylor has 90 from 373, Vusi Sibanda 67 from 370 and Hamilton Masakadza, who beats them all, 106 from 416

Enough of that though, my biggest disappointment is that the highly promising Odicious M(h)anje has been ignored  just what are these selectors thinking about

There must be some issue at franchise level itself, as Coventry did not play much cricket for Tuskers apart from the Stanbic T20s. Or some injury? Anyway, this was in a way expected, looking at recent squads we had.

In general, we don't see anyone who can bring that spark to the line up in this 30. We can probably experiment with Vitori / Shingi as pinch hitters may be. We would have nothing to lose if that doesn't come off.

Regarding Odicious M(h)anje, looks like he is the new Cephas Zhowao for us in the forums :). And thankfully, Cephas is not in this list too.

I just wish i could have read that list and have seen Gavin Ewing in there :( He's scored runs at franchise level so give the lad a shot!

Ironically given there's no chuckie I would have preferred to see crphas in a 30 man squad.

And why not Ewing? That guy can slog a ball and bowl restrictive offies.

Don't get it at all

I dont think they put thought in to selections anymore. Its always the same old squad whether a person performs or not.

Its a little strange but looks like the general thought seems to be that Ewing does not fit into T20 scheme of things. If you recall, he wasn't even considered as part of Tuskers squad for Stanbic T20s last time. Quite a strange thing though considering that he has a genuine attacking approach.

Maybe it's fitness. It's just a guess, but maybe he hasn't met the required standards with regards to his physical fitness to warrant a place.

I am now beginning to question givemore makoni's credentials as the convenor of selectors because choppa deserved to be in the squad and he is the cleanest striker of the ball.what a pity and they wil live to regret this!
