I always like to mention First Class debuts, so congratulations to;

Spencer Magodo (Mountaineers)
Munashe Chipara (Eagles)
Sydney Murombo (Rocks)
Takudzwa Chataira (Rocks)
Can you tell us much about these guys SZ?

Magado looks to be a future national team player (on paper) but I’d never heard of him before this year.

I saw Chataira bowl in one of the streamed matches earlier this year, looks to have a decent action.

I’ve always had an eye on Murombo as he’s named after I city I live in so I have a soft spot for him.

I know nothing about Chipara

How old is Magodo? He has a decent List A average too by our standards

This is when we need 'A' tours to see how good some of these guys are but I guess if there really are some counties coming at the end of the season that will be a good measure too

Hard enough to get other ‘A-Teams’ to visit Zimbabwe let alone them hosting ours.

As you said, the county tours will be a good chance to blood these guys.

Anybody know why Chisoro is not playing for Rocks? They certainly miss his bowling!

Magodo is approx 23-ish in terms of age. Has been around the club scene in Mutare for a couple of years but I can't say I've ever seen him or been on my radar. Has come from nowhere but people have talked positively about him in the Pro50 - apparently he kept wicket pretty well. One to watch for sure.

Chipara is about the same age, has come from Churchill and Takashinga. Don't know much else about him.

Murombo I am a fan of. I think he has something, let's see.

Chataira is 25, has played club cricket for quite a number of years for Manyame in Harare.

Good to hear all this positive stuff about Spencer Magodo. We would need more than one person to raise their hands up to fill the Regis void. Wonder why Mountaineers kept playing Sauramba even last season if this guy was around and available...

The Eagles are absolutely pounding the Rocks, looks like it’s back to the cellar for the poor old Masvingo outfit. Missing too many key players in Innocent, Blessing, Raza & Chisoro, plus they usually rope in another decent quick ie Snater or Odendaal

The other game is perfectly poised, after Day 2 Rhinos have a 170+ lead with 7 wickets in hand. They really should be able to drive home the advantage & win this, but it always seems to me that the Rhinos can snatch a loss from the jaws of victory, whilst the Goats just seem to win from anywhere.

Burl is 8* going into day 3, time for him to show his worth in the longer format. As SZ has pointed out, it’s been years since he’s done anything of substance batting wise.
