CASTLE Logan Cup champions Matabeleland Tuskers Cricket Franchise will be without Paul Horton and wicketkeeper Adam Wheater for the 2012-13 season.
The two players have been with Tuskers since 2010 and helped the Bulawayo-based cricket club win the most coveted silverware in the domestic league twice.
In an interview yesterday, Matabeleland Tuskers Cricket Franchise chief executive officer Stanley Staddon confirmed the developments.
“I received communication that Wheater will be going to an Australian team and has already signed an off-season contract. He was one of our best players last season and we really wanted to have him back but he chose to move on. As for Horton, we decided sometime ago that we were not going to renew his contract.
“I believe this will be a time for our fringe players to shine,” said Staddon.
The Tuskers boss said they would use players from the 2011 squad as well as those that will graduate from their academy.

Re: Tuskers lose overseas players
Good news; the Tuskers squad is strong and does not need supplementing with run of the mill overseas journeymen. Neither Chappie Coventry or Sean Williams played a first class match for the Tuskers during 11-12, they can surely replace the two departed; a much better situation for Zim Cricket.
