[Match Thread] Zimbabwe v Netherlands, 3rd ODI, Harare, 25 Mar 2023

Post by Detective RDS »

Netherlands won the toss and batting.

Mavuta and Ngarava are in for Wellington and Evans. Surprising XI. Chatara is playing and no Evans ! No Innocent. No Wellington which is a surprise too unless injured.

Barresi and Aryan are in for Cooper and Klein. I guess Cooper is injured ? Still no VD Merwe. Netherlands has replaced a pacer with a spinner. Maybe they think that this pitch will turn. Ideally, I believe that Scott Edwards should open. Their top 5 should be O'Dowd, Edwards, Barrresi, Ackermann and Tejamanuru.

Chatara and Ngarava have opened the bowling. Blessing Muzarabani didn't.

I know DH previously spoke about rotating the seamers so maybe everybody gets 2 games and Blessing gets 3 since he is coming from a serious injury ?? I don't know..

Not surprised Mavuta is in. We will see the Burl discussion play out today. Overall we all want our guys to win so let's see what happens

Why the hell would you even drop Kaia if not for injury?!!
And using Larry for Evans?!!
I mean come on, he's been on a constant decline for some time now. I don't know what new he offers to the team that anyone else doesn't. I personally would only want him for the T20Is. Nowhere else.

Guess Dave wants the squad to gel more and give everyone an opportunity. Excited to see how Mavuta goes.

They've obviously gone with rotation of the bowlers.

Chatara has served Zimbabwe well. But now have completely lost it. 3 boundaries in an over.

Surely Nyauchi and Chivanga are better picks than Chatara now. They need to have a serious discussion about this. Chatara isn't good enough to be the reserve pace bowler anymore. I would bring in Chivanga as the sub

Zimbabwe has a serious shortage of openers and living out Kaia is just criminal unless we were trying out some sort of combination. Our batters just havent shown up in this series and Kaia would have provided an extra bit of insurance. I wonder if Madande can keep up his good run of form. He has been basically just about the only consistent batter around. Interesting to see what kind of total that will be set and how we will go about it. Ballance owes the team a descent score today.
