Zimbabwe Vs Oman | ICC CWC Qualifier Super Sixes | 29 June 2023

Post by Crastle_cog »

All right folks, crunch end of the qualifiers coming up. To me this Oman game is very important. 2 points not only brings us a step closer to qualification but also puts immense pressure on the 4 other teams vying for us to capitulate in any way. Very confident heading into this one with the attitude the team has displayed over the last 4 games. Let's get the ball rolling in Bulawayo!

Anyone know anything about Oman’s attack? Presumably going to be more spin-friendly than Harare and par score slightly lower?

Bilal Khan is really good with the new ball especially. Their spinners are okaish. I would be more concerned about their batting. The likes of Jatinder Singh, Prajapati, Ilyas and Maqsood are really good players on their day.

Yeah,. Oman are a team that banks mostly on their all rounders, Zeeshan Maqsood is their star all rounder and captain who has surprisingly had a very quiet tournament so far except for the Ireland game.

Ayaan Khan (not the UAE one) is also a fine all rounder. Aaqib Illyas is their key batter and Bilal Khan their Strike bowler. Nothing very special in the spin department. Kashyap Prajapati is also a good player but he is very inconsistent.

All in all, Zimbabwe shouldn't face any problem whatsoever in beating them despite the fact that they've upset Ireland.

What I find very interesting is that Madande being replaced by a keeper suggests that they never had faith in Marumani's keeping anyway. So what would have happened if Gumbie hadn't come good? Risky business

Unless of course they had to make a 'like for like' replacement, therefore they had to pick a keeper.

I'm unaware if that is a rule though, I do remember Mike Hussey being a late inclusion into the Aussie ODI WC squad for the 2011 WC after he was initially ruled out with injury. On that occasion he replaced a bowler.

Guys who replaces Madande in the playing XI?

I'll go with Kaia but I fear these guys will go with Marumani.
