No, I'm not ... I support Bochum, mainly from my armchair, though, so I don't consider myself a "proper fan".ilovearsenal04 wrote:please dont tell me you are a SGE fan please

But hell, Jay Jay Okocha, what a player: Yeboah, Bein, Okocha ... fond memories; I was almost an Eintracht fan then

Cricket has been played for a few decades by the expat communities in Frankfurt, the main ground has always been the one at the University grounds in Ginnheim, the Ostpark is also often used. These are also the places where you are most likely to find social sides playing. In the last ten years or so the number of clubs around us has multiplied due to a lot of immigration from Pakistan into the Rhein-Main-Gebiet. The Bundesliga-Mitte is one of the strongest regional leagues, Walldorf have won the German championships twice in the last three years. As you can see if you follow the link, Offenbach also have a team, playing at Rosenhöhe. 99 % of the players in League cricket are, by my reckoning, from the subcontinent, probably 80-90 % from Pak, some clubs seem to be made up entirely by Pakistanis, other are more multi-cultural with a blend of Indians, Sri Lanks, Bangladeshis. The club where I played youth football and tried my hand at athletics, is now also playing cricket, which is rather strange ... but a sign 'o the times, I guess.ilovearsenal04 wrote:Is there any cricket action going on here in our region?

There is or was the ZVCA (Zeil Village Cricket Association) based around a pub (The Four Corners, Zeil 10) who seemed like a very friendly and hard-drinking bunch I've lost track of a New Zealander I knew who was active with that lot, so I'm not sure if they're still alive.ilovearsenal04 wrote:that is the problem with cricket here in Germany. it is difficult to intergrate with those guys i would love to play cricket again though.
