We all know that Rhinos all-rounder Solomon Mire is playing in Aus but I have recently heard that other players from the same franchise are leaving too,Mugava and Marillier can anyone shed any light on this topic.
Guys why cant we keep our home grown players here? Mugava a talented spinner and Marillier one of the better opening batters in the country and could boyh cemtn places in the A side and maybe even one step further.

Re: Local players playing in Aus
I have seen on an agents web page that marillier had signed with him and he had found a club in aus,as for mugava he is defo thinking about it as he is always talking bout going to play there on fb! is it true that there will only be 3 contracted players per franchise and the rest get paid to play-if they find the money!!

Hope not!earlgrey wrote:is it true that there will only be 3 contracted players per franchise and the rest get paid to play-if they find the money!!

The only squad list I've seen so far is for the Tuskers, and they did seem to have a somewhat larger core squad than 3...
Do to their age, Mugava and Mire are guys that we really need in the system. Perhaps not so much Marillier, but he has been a regular in franchise cricket for the last 3 years, and therefore the domestic game would be weaker if he isn't there.

Re: Local players playing in Aus
Not too sure where I stand.
Pros of letting them go:
1. They get to experience different conditions (as it stands they just get to play Bangla and Pakistan every now and then in Harare and BYO)
2. Someone else pays for their development (ZC doesnt have the money so let them earn a decent salary elsewhere)
Cons:
1. They never come back (either ZC is too proud to let them go or invite them back Vusi debacle or they experience professionalism and cant bear to come back to uncertainty that prevails)
2. Because someone else pays the piper he calls the tune (contracts may not allow National duty availability)
3. The local league is poorer if all our better players travel (although the English season's timing is perfect if the English clubs will have them)
I say its a good thing if it doesn't preclude them from coming back when needed, which unfortunately isnt the case. Otherwise there is so much positive in ending our spinners (even to lesser leagues) in the subcontinent to learn, ditto our quicks to England, SA, etc, and batsmen to where they can experience different and testing conditions. Otherwise our boys will suffer from embarrassment when ever they tour (which is rare) or every four years when the go to a World Cup...

However, it seems to me that when players go, they are gone. Very few seem to return...
