End of 1st Innings: Zimbabwe 256 (Dabengwa 79, Kreusch 3/28), South African Composite XI 353 (McLaren 80, Koortzen 80, Utseya 5/70). Composite have 1st-innings lead of 97.

So yeah, Zimbabwe were 100 short of where they needed to be...

Zimbabwe 0/1
V Sibanda c Walters b Mjekula 0
..and that's just the way to start an innings. Not. :(

And our newfound opening combination, thanks to our genius selectors, has failed yet again.

Vusi Sibanda out for a golden duck, Zimbabwe at 1/0. And you don't think I'm fuming that Brendan Taylor was taken out of the opening position, let alone dropped from the team :x

Unless Zimbabwe make 400+ in this innings, or bat well into the first session of day 4, I think SAC XI might sneak away with a win.

Sean Williams traveling pretty nicely - 71* at the moment. He's the best First Class batsman in Zimbabwe.

Bad luck, getting out on 107 - but it was another century to his name. Well done!

A few quick wickets have fallen unfortunately, Dabengwa out for 18, a shame he couldn't go on to make another good score. Utseya and Chigumbura batting now. I have confidence in Utseya especially, he is really turning into a very good lower/lower middle order batsman. I hope Chigumbura can make some runs, he has a tendency to be shaky early in the innings.

Leading by 173 isn't enough, we need to add another 100 or so to really have a fighting chance in this match. Timycen Maruma can also bat a bit, and we know Utseya/Maruma have a good record batting together.

Great to see my fighting spirit from the guys.

I just hope now that the selectors understand that if we are to win matches we need to pick the best 11 available, and that 11 out there right now is certainly not Zimbabwes best 11.

Brent and Taylor both missing, and yes they are white.....pathetic.

I hope Zim 's selectors mature and stop using this colour nonsense. Its good anyway to see Zim posting a competitive total.

Indeed. Can anyone remember the last time Zimbabwe batted through a day, or posted 400+? I think it's been a while...
