Grass roots is all well and good but you need some razzmatazz to attract those under 9s in the first place. The occasion and spectacle is primary to the on field cricket in capturing the public’s initial interest and costs nothing more than the electric and some pink balls. ZC should be using those floodlights at every opportunity. You’ve got to have the interest in the first place for all the other improvements they could make to actually do anything.

The suits’ first job should be selling cricket to the wider public to get a bigger pool.
