Westerns beat Easterns by eight wickets in a thrilling contest lasting 40 overs. Easterns batting first made 122/8 in the allotted overs before Westerns reached the target in 17.4 overs for the loss of just two wickets. They made 123 to take the match and the points.
In the other match at the other OH arena Northerns were too powerful for Centrals beating them by five wickets. Northerns made 176 in 40 overs for the loss of five wickets. In reply Centrals could only manage 52 runs all out in 21.3 overs to hand Northerns the victory.
The matches continue Thursday with Easterns facing Northerns and Centrals playing Westerns. The tournament is also used to select a squad that will be involved in the World Cup qualifiers.
