Ya its really disheartening. We've got some decent players at national level and the small handful on the periphery, we just don't know how to win games.
ZC is finally being more proactive, but the horse has almost bolted.
Theyre doing half the job.
They don't keep anyone in the loop.
Theyve lost Houghton and Brent who are two absolutely key coaches. They need to involve Taylor in some capacity and can Jarvis and other free-loaders and pimps ASAP.
They've got a couple of really poor people in admin roles.
They continue to make some shocking selections at all levels.
They have an U25 team that is their version of a High Performance Academy that will only be ok if they pick the right guys, but there's no indoor facility for them, no bowling machines etc etc.
Theyve really missed a trick by not getting Brent to head this up. He's a real professional with lots to offer.
Is there a genuine concern that he will show up the other coaches to be useless? I think it's a big part of the problem.
The bar has to be on the floor so everyone can jump over it.
Theyve picked an U25 team to go to the All Africa games that that has players over 25. Are the teams supposed to all be u25? If not, call it something else or pick u25 players. There's absolutely no attention to detail.
Don't waste resources on players that aren't good enough.
Find a professional expert that can decide who is good and who isn't, not a friend or relative.
There's an u25 team going to Ghana and there's an U25 team supposedly going to the UK. Are these the same players? We don't have 22 good u25's. They're wasting resources. We have about 6 or 7 decent u25's. A couple of them have played in the recent Zim A's and yet a couple of them aren't in the Ghana team, are they in the UK team? Are some of the Ghana guys going to UK? Nobody knows anything. If you can play Zim A then you can surely play Ghana or there's something very very wrong.
We have only a small handful of guys that can push on, give them every game there is going and give them some money. They're only going to improve if they get Madhevere treatment. Someone needs to explain to them that giving good players one game to prove themselves once a year is not going to work. Giving shit players 100 games a year won't work either. It's mind numbing watching the planning and execution, or lack thereof.

You've got good guys that get paid a pittance for 4 months of the year and then nothing. How are people supposed to survive and practice? Irksome when we know the top guys are living like kings.

We have shit umpires, shit pitches and shit balls and some people have no balls at all. We have a cricketing public that know less than fuck all about cricket but they can sing. Weve completely lost buy in from white kids- the source of 80% of really good players we've ever produced for decades. People can shout all they like about that statement but it's fact. The black kids have not taken up the slack. They can't because they don't like cricket or don't go to schools that offer cricket. They go to schools that sometimes play football with plastic bags tied together with string.

Aah heard a great story about the A division schools athletics meeting-
The Prince Edward senior boys drove into the middle of the field in their VX wagons, ML's and Range Rovers and had the form 1's holding their blazers for them like butlers.
Their parents will not buy a toilet roll or a pencil for their school however. There is no shame in this country.. 20 people watching thought it was disgusting and thousands cheered wildly and wondered how they could become a Range Rover owner with no skills but subterfuge and theft We're fucked basically.

They seem to be advertising for a coach only now, which probably means Penny said no.
Wait for the u19 coach choice.
Will age group stuff ever start again. Will they continue to have trials involving 14000 boys who've never seen a cricket bat, let alone own one, that gets stretched out over 57 weeks. Unless we get some serious people who are able to make proper sensible decisions without having to get the blessing of someone on a golf course or drinking Johnny Walker Blue and Cream Soda with his chummies we're doomed.
