Pakistan are probably making the right call. They have to think about their players welfare... nothing good can come out of Zimbabwe thrashing them match after match.
...
“But on a positive note, there’s another tour that’s being worked out, if we can have that country coming here in July then we can make up for the Bangladesh loss.”
The national side, meanwhile, resumed camp for the August games on Monday while the Zim A practice also continued uninterrupted despite the postponement of their Asia tour.
“Currently both squads are in camp and in the absence of an international tour, they will play amongst themselves in the build-up to the August series,” Makoni added.
“On average, we have 30 players training at Harare Sports Club, the two camps combined, but of course going about their business separately.”
I have my doubts about this squad surely Raza would still be there after the finish to his domestic season, also how would Joylord Gumbie get a start over Regis ??? Although when it comes to Zimbabwe the right players are rarely selected .....
There is good news for them too in the latest draft FTP. Zimbabwe's Test schedule will see them play three Test series against Bangladesh in the next two years, host India for a Test and three ODIs in June 2016 and visit India for the same number of matches in February/March 2019. While Australia are also due to tour Zimbabwe, in June/July 2018 for two Tests and three ODIs, there are no visits either to or from England, in keeping with the political standoff between the two nations.
That's good. I don't mind Zimbabwe playing 1 Test match series.
It gives so much meaning to the match that is played which can lead to some really exciting cricket. Think Bangladesh in Harare 2011 or New Zealand in Bulawayo 2011. Good positive cricket that could have petered out into a draw if everything wasn't on the line.
I love Test cricket though, so as much as I'd prefer to see Zimbabwe playing 5 Test blockbusters it's not going to happen. So the real question is do we want another 5 ODI series or a 1 Test / 3 ODI series? And I'll choose the option which involves Test cricket every time. So if 1 Test series is Zimbabwe's ticket to playing more Tests then I'm all for them.
I would like to see Zimbabwe utilise South Africa more though. When a country is going on a Test tour of South Africa instead of them playing an 18-a-side three day warm up against the Limpopo Invitational 2nd XI, have a one-off Test at HSC instead...
v Zimbabwe home October/November 2014
v Zimbabwe home January/February 2016
v Zimbabwe home January/February 2019
v New Zealand away February/March 2019
v New Zealand home September/October 2019
v Zimbabwe home April/May 2020
v Zimbabwe away March/April 2021
v Zimbabwe away March 2022

Yes, that plan doesn't look too bad if we can sneak in more series with SL, WI and NZ whenever we can.

The England issue is nothing to do with politics, its just a smokescreen used as an excuse to cover up the fact they just cant be bothered to play us.

It is a smokescreen, and it's disgraceful. I get fed up with us repeatedly playing Australia and India all the time.
