Post by zimfan1 »

Squad for tomorrows game

Brendan Taylor (c/wk)
Regis Chakabva
Tendai Chatara
Elton Chigumbura
Timycen Maruma
Hamilton Masakadza
Shingi Masakadza
Natsai M'shangwe
Tinashe Panyangara
Vusi Sibanda
Sikandar Raza
Donald Tiripano
Prosper Utseya
Malcolm Waller
Sean Williams

Looks like Vitori is still being troubled by his ankle injury which gives a chance for Tripano to impress

In terms of the lineup one has to feel that they will go with the tried and tested for the first game.

1. Vusi Sibanda
2. Sikanda Raza
3. Hamilton Masakadza
4. Brendan Taylor
5. Sean Williams
6. Malcolm Waller
7. Elton Chigumbura
8. Prosper Utseya
9. Tinashe Panyangara
10. Shingari Masakadza
11. Tendai Chatara

Hopefully Raza will get a few overs as from what i have seen of his off spin i am sure that we can get a few more overs out of him.

Is Utseya fit though? Maybe Mushangwe will get a run

Can't argue with that XI. Only possibility, irrespective of the injury scare, if I am a selector, I would want to give every opportunity to Mushangwe to play so that he can be assesses for the longer format. To take over as the no.1 spinner in future. This being Queens, they might play both of them anyway? If so, Shingi might again miss out.

Chakabva would be breathing down the neck of Raza and Waller for sure.

I hope to see all 15 guys get a run at some point .....

I guess my question of a few months ago about who is the 5th seamer has been answered Mr Tiripano gets the gig, good to see him make the step up he has been a solid performer for many franchise seasons .....

Will Raza open ? I like having Vusi, hammie and BRMT in the top 3 in ODI matches .....

Any coverage ???

Obviously Cricinfo don't care too much about this series as they haven't paid too much attention to the actual squad, they have named Vitori in their 'likely lineup' ...

This site seems to think DSTV will televise the game .....

Zimbabwe and Afghanistan face off on Friday, July 18 in the 1st ODI match.

The teams are set to play in a 4 ODI series that will run every other day through July 24 at Queen’s Sports Club in Bulawayo.

The 1st ODI is slated to start at 9:30 a.m. CAT (12 p.m. AFT).

It will be broadcast on DSTV in Zimbabwe and 1TV in Afghanistan.
It will also be broadcast on Star Cricket in India and ESPN Sports in Australia.

Live streaming will be available through most of the broadcasters. Sky Sports will show highlights in the U.K.

Afghanistan will be looking to get back into action after last playing a major match on March 11 while Zimbabwe would like to get some wins as well before taking on South Africa next month.
