At the time I wrote that Bangladesh were 30 odd for , and we were fielding like demons. How things changedDr_Situ(ZimFanatic) wrote:Mushy Rahim was dropped by Chigumbura on 16 and then on 60 by Brendan Taylor. In between, he was caught at deep midwicket on 56, but the bowler - Chiggs again - had overstepped. With Shakib and Mushy rampant, a chance was offered in the 43rd over when Shakib scooped Chiggy but didn't connect properly. Kamungozi, at short fine leg moved late, and then decided keep it to a single instead of going for the catch. Our fielding left a lot to be desired.sloandog wrote:Very impressive in all departments. Re: [Match Thread] Bangladesh v Zimbabwe 1st ODI
Am I correct in assuming that we have scored only 2 ODI hundreds since the last world cup blitz by Taylor against SL? One by Vusi where he was guided to it by Williams and the other when Raza flayed the Afghan attack. Any other I'm missing? If Taylor and Hammy don't hit those big 3 figure scores, we'll continue to struggle. They both got out to bowling and fielding brilliance yesterday after looking very assured as it sounded in commenatary, but they need to convert at some point in this series.

I left home yesterday with Hami and BT in charge, thinking 'if one them does not get a hundred we will struggle to get past 200'. Without Sean Williams we only have 2.5 batsmen in the side (Hami, BT, Raza) and a couple of guys who surprise us with a half century once in a while. Not enough to consistently score 275+.CrimsonAvenger wrote:If Taylor and Hammy don't hit those big 3 figure scores, we'll continue to struggle. True but it mitigates the disaster a smidgen. We lost in ZIM in 2011 and 2013 and it was mitigated by Zim pushing NZ (and winning a stunning 300+ ODI chase) and beating PAK last year. Of course fans and critics don't care less, but from an objective pov, thats how it is.eugene wrote:And it was a disaster for NZ also.Kriterion_BD wrote:NZ has been blanked 7-0 in their last two tours to the Sunderbans.eugene wrote:This tour has been an absolute disaster so far.
This tour has been bad for ZIM, and if it ends up being 8-0, it might be one of the worst tours in history but that's just how the game goes. I'm sure we will struggle in a return series - whenever one is scheduled - even if we win. Just like Zim, we're very decent in our conditions...we're just mentally unable to rebound quickly from a mishap. Bad timing for ZIM...if you played us right after India A whooped us, you'd have been favorites!
