Very good squad, can't complain about any of them.
I guessed it right last night on twitter although I did have Vitori in place for Utseya.

Definitely one seamer short here we could have easily left out one of either Chamu or Matsi for some one like Vitori or Chinoyua ......
Regis probably gets the nod as the back up keeper other wise he is lucky to be there .....
Raza
Hami
BRMT
Matsi
Ervine
Willy
Mire
Chigs
Utseya
Panga
Chatara
We might drop off Matsi for Mupariwa but the fact they've only selected 3 front line seamers makes me think they're going to expect Chigs and Mire to bowl 15-20 overs per match .....
Big risk picking Utseya with his unproven action, we might also put Mupariwa in for Utseya and just use Willy as the spinner ....

Some twitter reactions and comments from Makoni
@Gomorezvidinha: My main concern is that bowling is a bit samey. Right medium pace/fast-medium all the way. Also, what on earth will Utseya be bowling? Liam Brickhill
@ZimCricketv: Whatmore:I've personally spoken to all those who missed out and assured them that they are still part of the future
@Gomorezvidinha: The batting looks strong. Matsikenyeri adds experience to middle. Williams, Ervine LHB bring variety - & Williams can accelerate nicely. Liam Brickhill
@ZimCricketv: Makoni on mire: Mire will join the guys in Australia and New Zealand
@ZimCricketv: Makoni on Sibanda:Vusi is unlucky to miss out, but we've gone with guys in form
@ZimCricketv: Makoni on the exclusion of Vitori:the bowlers we picked ahead of him have done better, panyangara and Chatara are the choices we've gone with
@ZimCricketv: Makoni on Chibhabha and mupariwa: mupariwa is one of our best bowlers, he did well on an A side tour to Bangladesh
@ZimCricketv: Whatmore on the squad: I'm happy with the squad
@ZimCricketv: Makoni on Utseya: he is our mystery spinner bowling mediums and cutters and his experience will be vital for us

Re: 2015 CWC squad announced
Double-post, sorry:
If Chamu is in, I quite like the look of:
1 Raza
2 Chamu
3 Hami
4 Taylor
5 Williams
6 Mire
7 Chigs
I'd rather have Chamu at the top than at 3 or 4. That's less pressure for him, and Raza can be agressive if needs be.
With this 7, we also have four useful bowling options (Hami, Mire, Willy amd Chigs).
Then:
8 Chakabva
9 Panyangara
10 Chatara
11Tawanda Mupariwa
No place for Ervine. Unconvinced by Kamungozi. What does Prosper bowl now? Williams is our best spinner.
With this team, I think we play to our strangths.

Peterhouse U14C 4th change bowler and no. 10 batsman (but only because Aaron didn't have a bat).

Yeah, he is our "mystery" spinner. It's a mystery why you would select him given his primary skill is taken away!jaybro wrote:@ZimCricketv: Makoni on Utseya: he is our mystery spinner bowling mediums and cutters and his experience will be vital for us
Re: 2015 CWC squad announced
Guess Utseya, Regis, Chamu and Ervine would have to consider themselves lucky to make the squad, can't really think of anyone who hasn't made it that would or should feel hard done by ......
Vusi has been in the squad consistently for years but even he must admit his form doesn't warrant selection .....

Yeah, there are no glaring omissions like we always do. So, we can settle for this. I would have picked Vitori over Matsi / Chamu. I would have also seriously considered Richie over Regis, but not sure who gets the nod. Regis has local knowledge that goes for him. So, happy overall. But yes, we should have developed Wellington / Mufudza / Munyede as an alternative for Pro once we got the bad news.

Re: 2015 CWC squad announced
Effectively Matsi and Chamu make the squad based on their prolonged absence from the national side = no opportunities to remind us of their mediocrity. Good luck to them.
C. Ervine gets picked due to runs he made four years ago; he hardly scored any international runs between then and his Irish exile. In BD he didn't look the up for it mentally at all.
Regis is not an ODI player, but Richie hasn't scored any runs lately, PJ is sick (hope he gets well soon), and no one else can keep in an emergency, so at the end of the day it's a reasonable choice.
I know Vusi can't complain with the form he has been in, but at the end of the tournament people will be longing for his return. Dav Whatmore would have been the man to turn him around confidence-wise!
Vitori should have been in the squad -- we surely are not going to bowl two slow arm bowlers who do not spin the ball in Australian/NZ conditions??? With Kamungozi and Utseya in the squad it looks as if we are covering for an expected failure.
