I have been going through some Logan Cup stats since the beginning of the franchise era, which is now 6 seasons old. Here are the top runscorers and wicket takers per franchise. Franchise Stats
Re: Franchise Stats
Bit of a massive essay. Hopefully some interesting stuff in there. If I can be bothered, I might do the same thing with List A stats at some point...

Re: Franchise Stats
Wow, great work, aydee
Interesting to see that Forster averages about the same for Eagles and Goats. I guess his slump started in his last season or so at Eagles and then continued for a while at Mutare before picking up again this season.
Do you have, by chance, the combined stats for the top players as there has been a good deal of franchise-hopping going on over the years? Or would you be willing to compile them from your already collected data?

How did Kamungozi make it to the test squad with stats like those.....

Re: Franchise Stats
That he was selected didn't shock me, that he actually performed half decently in those Bangladesh ODI is what blew me away.grant wrote:How did Kamungozi make it to the test squad with stats like those.....
I just don't understand what the point of being a wrist spinner is if you can't turn the ball. Most faux spinners bowl finger spin (like pre-2015 Utseya)... the only other example I can think of is Cameron White. His straight breaks rival Kamungozi's.
Oh well, hopefully we won't have to worry about it any more. If things go to plan, Cremer will be our sole spinner for the next decade.
Re: Franchise Stats
Interesting to note that Cremer's average is actually not that impressive, and somewhat higher than several other spinners.brmtaylor.com admin wrote:grant wrote: If things go to plan, Cremer will be our sole spinner for the next decade.
Don't get me wrong, I think he is a good bowler, and it can only be good news that he is planning a return to cricket. However, he is not a world class bowler, and who knows what his form/fitness is going to be like having not played a competitive game for so long...

Re: Franchise Stats
Phenomenal strike rate though. Cremer's 300 FC wickets must put him up pretty high in the historical Rhodesian/Zimbabwe spinner rankings, and given he would have been about 26 when he got there...aydee wrote:Interesting to note that Cremer's average is actually not that impressive, and somewhat higher than several other spinners.brmtaylor.com admin wrote:grant wrote: If things go to plan, Cremer will be our sole spinner for the next decade.

Cremer can be world class. He's got the two most important tools - 1) a leg break which actually rips; 2) a deceptive googly which actually turns. And he can hold a bat.
If he plays 30 Test matches I reckon he could get a bowling average less than his batting average. It might be marginal, like 30/29, and his batting average boosted by a lot of not outs and one or two big scores against Bangladesh - but I reckon it's achievable.
Whatever the stats say, Price/Cremer/Utseya (probably in that order) have been our best modern spinners. There's daylight between them and the next group. Lots and lots of daylight.
Re: Franchise Stats
I still miss Adam Huckle. He could bowl.
