They didn’t even tell the franchise managers that the season was starting until 2 days ago

They seem to be going with full home and away fixtures at each of the provincial grounds.

The pitches need to be excellent to justify this. Otherwise it’s a lot of money to send two full squads and support staff to Mas Vegas just to play on some dogshit excuse of a wicket.

They have to do this. Have to spread the pro game around the country. Establish some kind of identity and differentiation to the teams. It's pathetic having a team called Southern Rocks, who never play in the South.

I agree in theory obviously, but almost every single one of the Southern Rocks players - and every other franchise - live in Harare and it’s a really big cost to transport and house these guys for fixtures.

It’s only a benefit if the quality of the pitches at each ground is seriously good. Which it generally isn’t. Last time they went to Mutare it was a joke on the field, let alone the fact the change rooms had no water, no showers, no power.

I don’t think Kwekwe is actually that bad but the MCC just outright refused to play on it and god knows what Masvingo is like these days.

It also doesn’t really spread the game because only about 5 fans turn up at these grounds for domestic fixtures.

Good in theory but quite wasteful in practice unfortunately.

God forbid the Chinese find a trace of gold on any of these grounds. If they sampled HSC and there was gold it would be a quarry in 2 days and it would be a JV with ZC. The lights would mean they could do a 24 hour shift.

Our country is fucked.

All the out of town wickets have gone badly downhill. Not sure what they plan to do to fix them.

See the old KweKwe Queens’s ground - where I spent so much of my youth - completely destroyed by illegal gold mining.

It wont end. Gold price just going up. 2 grams of gold is a month's wage.
I saw a guy yesterday that found the elusive pocket. About 4 million bucks worth. I mean a guy from the rural area. One wild guess what his first purchase was- A Bell 206 helicopter.
No jokes. He didnt think it needed a pilot or costs about a grand an hour to fly.
They are digging up the whole country. The chinese are making mountains disappear in a couple of months, the damage is insane.
