Well the T20 World Cup campaign is over for Zimbabwe and now let’s have a discussion on who could be next big things for Zimbabwe from the current crop of young players available and raring to play for Zimbabwe.
Tatenda Chimugoro: huge potential if this kid has the hunger and desire to play at the highest level. He can bowl and if he works hard on his batting, he can be a great asset for Zimbabwe at number 6 or 7, can hit it out of the park effortlessly.
Kian Blignaut: can he become the next Brian Bennett for Zimbabwe. Quite talented with bat and could potentially be the number 3 batsman for Zimbabwe in all formats.
Webster Madhidhi : a young fast bowler who seems to have the goods to become a great fast bowler, showed great mettle against India at the recently concluded Under19 World Cup.
David Bennett: he is in his final year at the university and coming back. Very talented but not that serious about his cricket as said by Brian Bennett in one of his recent interviews. This kid is way better than Munyonga, Madande and Musekiwa to say the least.
Patel brothers : seen them batting on few occasions and they are young and have the goods and potentials to be good enough to represent Zimbabwe at the highest level.
Mathew Welch: another good prospect but have not seen much of him batting but the members on this forum have high opinion of him.
Mathew Campbell: a left handed batsman, younger brother of Jonathan Campbell, who scored a hundred few days in the Logan cup. Could be another good prospect for Zimbabwe at the top order.
Kundai Matigimu: yes he is 28 but very new to international scene, lots of hype around this lad before he debuted for Zimbabwe, had a very mild outing so far but Ngarava also had a very ordinary start to his career but improved a lot as the time went by.
Antum Naqvi: not a youngster at all but we will definitely see him play for Zimbabwe somewhere down the line. Maybe 2027 ODI World Cup. Could become the next Raza.
