I still believe the Nasir is criminally underrated as a batsman within the BCB. They want him to play as a bowling allrounder and bat at 7 or 8. I say stick him in at 4 or 5 and let him win Bangladesh more games with his batting ability. He's for always either getting stranded with the tail or gets out swinging hard with a few overs left in an ODI innings.

Nasir's bowling is underrated IMO and Mashrafe seems to have realized its value. Hardly got a bowl under Mushfiq. He's a fine batter, but our top order is loaded now and the only place for him is down the order at 6,7,8. He started there as a rookie and was a fine finisher, our version of Bevan.

We lost the List A series 2-1, which is a satisfactory result IMO.
But dissappointingly lost the 1st 3 dayer by 4 wickets against Karnataka's B side.

That was a stunning win for Karnataka! It shows the depth the Ranji champions have that has led to their success in the last 3 seasons. 7 first team players missing, the entire bowling attack of last season (Skipper Vinay Kumar nursing injury, Abhimanyu Mithun away on wedding leave, Sreenath Aravind and Stuart Binny away on national duty) and the top 3 batsmen (KL Rahul, Manish Pandey and Karun Nair) all not in the playing XI! In fact, Utthappa and skipper Gautham were the only two players to have experience of more than 2 seasons. The two 5-fors were taken by the two debutants Prasidh Krishna and Suchith. This against a quality Bangla A team too. Great stuff.

This match seems fishy to me. This was in essence Karnataka under 19s vs a reasonably strong Bangladesh A. We just beat full strength India comprehensively in conditions not dissimilar to those of mysore, how we can fall so much so quickly. I refuse to read too much into this particular result. I think the India A series was more indicative of the realtive strengths between the sides.

Mysore is the fort for the Karnataka team, they rarely lose there. It provides great support for seamers on day 1 and that was exploited well by the debutant. It turns into a spinners paradise by days 3 and 4 and hence, probably one of the best pitches in the country. Unfortunately, not elevated to international level yet.
Karnataka teams have been regularly beating the Rest of India teams (best of the rest, from across the country) in the last couple of seasons and convincingly too, so there is quality there. So much so that someone like Utthappa might lose his spot in the state team midway this season if he doesn't perform. So, it wasn't a fluke. A full strength Karnataka might easily topple India in both FC and LOI, may be not T20. Enormous work done over the last 4-5 years by former India players from the region Brijesh Patel, Anil Kumble and Javagal Srinath paying rich dividends. An example of reaping results due to good governance, something of a rarity among sports authorities in the subcontinent

But this wasn't Karnataka though. This was Karnataka under 19s. If Stuart Binny is a front line seamer, this is a bad loss for BD A. If they can compete with India A, I'll be satisfied. I have trouble believing A state that isnt even a traditional powerhouse is really better than the Rest of India. Even then this was Karnataka's B side.

Bangladesh is notorius for losing like this.
Remember a full-strength Bangladesh side also lost to Zimbabwe's A side. (Only Mawoyo, Taibu, and Utseya were the 1st choice players then)
Barring two or three really top & settled players in the last 3 years, Bangladesh does not have much depth.
Zimbawe on the other hand could almost beat Pakistan without a number of the so called top players.
That's why zImbabwe will never lose its Test status. They rebuilt well between 2005-2010. Many top future player shaven't even made their debuts.
(But yes Whatmore's boys are losing to 3rd string Indian sides

Bangladesh A currently 106/5 after 27 overs of the 1st Unofficial Test against India A.

Ouch!Karnataka beat the visiting Bangladesh A side by four wickets after staving off a late fightback on the third and final day of their match in Mysore. The win served as ideal preparation for the new Ranji Trophy season, which begins on October 1, for the defending champions.
