I don't like the format this time. They should have gone with a first round of 4 groups of 4 and second round (Super 8s) of 2 groups of 4 (the top two finishers from the Groups) and then semifinals and final.

So let's say you had:

Group A

South Africa
Sri Lanka
Bangladesh (nice strong group here with the Saffers, Lankans and Bangladesh; the Dutch may pull a surprise)
Netherlands

Group B

West Indies
England
Ireland (nice Anglo-Irish rivalry plus Anglo-West Indian history; Ireland and West Indies also have a bit of history and the Irish aren't weak either)
Oman

Group C

India
Pakistan (Indo-Pakistani rivalry obviously a must-do when possible)
Scotland
Afghanistan (Afghanistan have improved enough to make this a competitive group and a India-Afghanistan game and an Afghanistan-Pakistan game should generate keen rivalry)

Group D

Australia
New Zealand (Trans-Tasman rivalry will sell well and have eyes glued to the TV)
Zimbabwe (Zimbabwe should be able to challenge in this group and a chance to take down Australia would be great).
Hong Kong

^^ tasty!

But we will never see another world cup format where India could crash out after three matches.
