So where does this tour leave BD now do you reckon, Kriterion?
Same place they were at before, IMO.

My hope was for Bangladesh to prove their strength away from home and we got some pretty docile tracks but the boys weren't up to the mark. The bowlers in particular were non-existant. We could have played 11 specialist batsmen and we would have probably gotten more wickets for fewer runs.

That being said, its my feeling that there are serious conflicts within the setup that boiled over during this tour. The only way to describe some of the things that have happened is "bizarre" and "inexplicable". For example Mushfiq was quoted as saying "I don't have any control over my team...its my personal failure" and "I was asked to field in the deep because I'm a bad fielder" which was then contradicted by the BCB President. His decision to bowl first seemed intentional especially when he did it for the second Test knowing it was a flat wicket. The you have Shakib who mysteriously and conincidentally asked to be rested for this series.

My theory is the senior players have beef with the coach and/or the selection panel. Both have made really bad decisions for a while now and have been getting away with because Bangladesh has done decently well at home.

It will be interesting to see what happens in the coming months.

Jaybro you're an absolute waste of my time!

Ngidi and Morris(and Philander) were injured. Besides, Phehlukwayo, just like MOrris only comes into the picture when bowling allrounder Philander is injured.

Pretorius is another name, but Phehlukwayo has outbatted and outbolwed for the A side, plus he's younger. It's universally acknowledged that Phehlukwayo is both a better bowler than Pretorius, as well as being faster.

Olivier is already part of the side, and Phehlukwayo outbowled even though Duanne is a frontline seamer.

Mulder is an unproven youngster. Just like Frylinck, it's was pretty obvious for everyone to see live on TV when Wiaan made his debut in the 3rd ODI against Bangladesh this past Sunday, that Phehlukwayo is superior to both with the ball.

Phehlukwayo offers SA more across all formats than Wiaan, Pretorius and Frylinck. After 4 Tests Chris Morris average 38 with the ball at an economy rate of 4.42, plus averages 24 with the bat. It's now obvious to everyone too that in the absence of Philander and a desire to have a player who can bowl and bat, Phehlukwayo is the man.

Several front-line bowlers have been picked but flopped.

Even the Paterson you refer to - a frontline seamer - got outbowled by Phehlukwayo albeit in List A.

Start getting used to this Proteas line-up, and soon, because it won't just humiliate Bangladesh and Zimbabwe, it will also thump your Australia(and England)!

Zondo and especially Ramela are nowhere near test quality, just look at their first class numbers. Your bias overstepping all bounds of logic and reason there.

Hahaha I would love to see that South African side play they would get absolutely pumped

Ramela & Zondo 😂😂😂😂😂😂

How can Phehlukwayo be seen as an allrounder ?

First class batting average of 20 😂😂😂😂😂

His selection was a quota selection and I will be very surprised if South Africa risk playing him at 7 against India or Australia

Bangladesh have been extremely useless on this tour. In each and every format!

This has been a total waste of time!

Personally I think this tour will hurt Bangladesh going forward.

I really believe this has changed even NZ, PAK, SL and WI's view of BD even if they tour there. I've seen sides struggle and be weak away from home.

For BD to be this useless against extremely weakened Proteas sides was significant.

I don't want to believe so for the main reason that the reputation a side builds over 3 or 4 years usually doesnt dissipate in the course of a single series or even a season.

NZ's ODI record in BD is 0-7 this decade, with zero Test wins as well. They'd be foolish to share your thoughts on their next tour of BD, given better teams like England and Australia have tasted defeat.

PAK too will remember the 0-3 whitewash they had last time, granted with a transitionary team. But their Test team at the moment is in utter shambles.

We'll be hosting SL in a couple months and so we'll see how that goes. SL only managed a drawn Test series at home and their ODI form is terrible.

You saw how the windies struggled vs Cremer...BD has a 3 pronged spin attack...Id imagine the windies would get whitewashed in Tests in BD.

And don't forget Bangladesh would have drawn the first Test in NZ had they not declared as early as they did. Lesson learned. Was also in commanding positions in 2 of the 3 ODIs and should have won that series 2-1. Easy things to overlook and forget especially for those who.

And the most important point. All of our top order batsmen averaged above 17 in the SA Tests, which is what the world class Vusi averages in the middle order, so don't forget how incredibly strong our batting lineup is.

Only someone who has zero idea about cricket would say something so foolish

How can a side like BD improve in these conditions without touring ???

Again proving yourself to be a fool Hhm

Bangladesh were thoroughly smashed. In fact, I can't remember a series as one-sided as this. But, I have a feeling there is great turmoil within the change room and I hope it is resolved soon otherwise we'll be in the dolldrums for the next couple of years. I definitely expected a tougher fight against what was virtually a South African A side all through the tour, but we were also missing Shakib, Tamim, Mustafiz for good portions.

That being said, I don't see how pariah can complain given that all of our batsmen averages more than 7.33 which is world class Vusi's Test average in his preferred middle order slots when not being "forced" to open.

The negativity among the Bangladesh players spread like a "virus" as they got thrashed one game at a time on their South Africa tour, according to Shakib Al Hasan. The four weeks of woeful cricket finished with the 83-run defeat in the second T20 in Potchefstroom.

Shakib said that once they were handed the drubbings in the two Tests, the morale within the group started to go down, and it culminated in poorer performances in the ODIs, Bangladesh's favoured format, and T20s.

"I think a big reason [for the performance] was that we didn't do well in Tests, and when the ODIs came around that mood lingered into that format," Shakib said. "Similarly, when we did not do well in the ODIs, it lingered into the T20s. It's like a virus. If we did well in Tests, then we could have done even better in ODIs, and even better thereafter in the T20s.

In a losing dressing room, people talk about personal things, and unwittingly negative things come in.

The bowlers however had a terrible time. Collectively, the bowlers conceded the fourth-highest average in a Test series. For the first time, they went on to concede 1,000-plus runs in an ODI series. They were also on the receiving end of the fastest T20 international hundred. Shakib said that the most worrying thing was the lack of fight they posed to South Africa.
