Phehlukwayo first class average 36
Ngidi first class average 25
Oliver first class average 21
Pretors first class average 22
Patterson first class average 23
Morris first class average 25
Mulder first class average 22
Now you tell me how Phehlukwayo is anywhere near this test side ????
If a white guy averaging 36 with the ball was in the side could you imagine the outcry

Exactly.
Well and truly hung himself this week and it's here, in plain view, for all to see.
Re: [Series Thread] Bangladesh in South Africa 2017
With Phehlukwayo, I tend to think the truth lies somewhere in the middle, he isn't quite test quality at the moment but has the potential to be so in the future. Shown a fair bit of promise in his short international career, enough to be worth persisting with, but he will definitely need to improve his bowling somewhat to consistently trouble international batsman.
I don't think either Morris or Parnell will properly make it in tests, so I can understand why South Africa are looking at youth.

Re: [Series Thread] Bangladesh in South Africa 2017
Really ?? 2 Tests against BD and you're going to claim those figures. Such a small sample size that's why I picked to compare First Class Stats ( Ngidi only has 8 First class matches so lucky to be on the list ).pariah wrote: ↑Thu Oct 26, 2017 7:23 amPhehlukwayo Test average 20.50jaybro wrote: ↑Wed Oct 25, 2017 7:34 amPhehlukwayo first class average 36

You've been hammering BD all tour now you're gloating about Andile's figures against them? You can't have it both ways bud.
Anyways the point was that comparing their FIRST CLASS FIGURES Phehlukwayo shouldn't have been anywhere near the test side and if he were white you would be crying of all the injustices in the world being thrust upon you.
Lets see how Phehlukwayo does when India and Australia come to town

Was just going to say you yourself have been slating the Tigers all tour, saying how poor they were/are. So no big deal Hhm if you ask me.
His FC stats are poor compared to the others you mentioned.
Such a stupid argument to say after 2 tests you can claim 'need I say more,' like it's huge achievement. As jaybro said, I'm looking forward to seeing how/if he fairs against the Aussies and the Indians. I see it being a totally different proposition.

I've seen Phelukwayo and Oliver and Phelukwayo is a trundler who can't swing or seam the ball and so far has just some lucky wickets against a team in turmoil. Olivier actually looks like a quick bowler. No comparison.
Even Keegen Meth could swing the ball which Phelukwayo can't.

Re: [Series Thread] Bangladesh in South Africa 2017
Phehlukwayo bowls speeds of between 133-135, and on average gets at least two balls between 136-138kph per over. You forget he was also bowling these speeds in the u19 CWC too.
That's not a trundler.
Bowling within yourself is not bowling slow.
Both Ngidi and Rabada can get it above 140 easy, but the high 130s is where they mostly operate.
Bottomline is none of your brilliant Bangladesh batsmen can handle Phehlukwayo, and he proved against a ZIM A side which was literally Zimbabwe, that they can;t handle him either. Frylinck is a trundler, and even he was too much to handle for the woeful Bangladeshis.
Kyle Jarvis is slower than Phehlukwayo, which is what makes all this talk even more laughable!
In fact, Jarvis is slow than both Chatara and Shingi now. He's Tinashe Panyangara, but with much less competence!

Re: [Series Thread] Bangladesh in South Africa 2017
Craig Alexander, who plays FC cricket, is somebody who should count himself unlucky not to have been given a bowl in a test match.
Doesn't always work out though I guess.
Andile is a very good all round prospect in limited over cricket, but not test matches, hence why he wasn't selected against England

Re: [Series Thread] Bangladesh in South Africa 2017
Was Markram selected? No, because Kuhn was the designated opener. Likewise Morris was the designated bowling all-rounder.
Philander, Rabada, Morkel and Maharaja were the main attack, while Olivier was the reserve seamer, and Morris the first in line as the option to provide balance.
Your argument doesn't make sense. Did you want Olivier to be dropped and forgotten after one poor match and ignored for that 4th Test?
For what its worth many people here do believe Phehlukwayo would have been a better bowler than Olivier in England. I'm one of them.
It's a pity you just don't know how highly rate Phehlukwayo is across all formats including Tests.
