The Proteas would have had more pressure facing a provincial B attack than the suff BD have dished up so far.

When a wicket falls, and Amla gets in and stays in, things will get really ugly.

Markram could not have asked for an easier introduction to test cricket. Kuhn and Cook must be furious wherever they are!

3 African players in the XI is this a first ?

I guess they're trying to make up for only playing Bavuma against England when Rabada was suspended ??
Yes, it's a first. To say "make up for" gives the wrong impression. Philander and Morris are injured, so Phehlukwayo gets in on merit. He's done well for the A side remember - with bat and ball. Secondly, study who has made their Test debut since 2014 and what their record has been. CSA haven't been biased. On merit those picks have flopped.

Ticket sales for the 4-day Day-Night SA v ZIM Tests are about to take a serious nose dive because of Bangladesh.

Will the history around that match be enough of an attraction?

So far this looks like a typical Chittagong track...no pace, bounce, spin, or seam movememt. Very curious to see how Rabada and Morkel go about their business. They dont have much experience bowling here...first test at this ground since 2002.

Poor Markam run out on 97 in his debut innings, true he couldn't have had a much easier start but you still have to score them.

Bangladesh very very disappointing

Got nervous.

With 3 passengers in our batting lineup we are in a tough spot. Imrul, Mahmudullah, and Sabbir have their work cut out, then there is a 4th guy who is very inexperienced in Liton. Its all up to Tamim, Mushfiq, and Momin to score all the runs. Gonna be extremely tough to avoid a defeat here.

Not a single Bangladeshi orifice out at Potchefstroom will be clinically functional after today!

Why would they select Imrul Kayes ahead of Soumya Sarkar?

And what happened to Tamim? Why did he not open?

He was off the field so had to wait. He is probably only 90% fit with a groin niggle. He played with a hairline fracture in englamd when he hit those 2 hundreds at Lords and Trent Bridge. Probably relishes the thought of scoring in SA too much to sit out.

Soumya's form has been patchy, but Imrul's has been atrocious. Rahim didnt score enough so Tamim and Momin will have to step up today or we risk an innings defeat.

According to cricinfo, Rabada and Morkel are getting more bounce than the shorter BD quicks (wholly understandable), but also getting the ball to reverse.

Tamim and Mushfiq disappointed, both falling in the 40s, with Mushy getting a couple of lives as well.

Mominul is the key. 120 more needed to avoid the follow on with 6 wickets left but not much batting left.
