Vusi is not an opener. Never has been and never will be.
Fair enough. Then is Vusi better than an Ashraful?

I have no doubt in my mind. It's just a pity one got to display his skills in the middle order, while the other did not.

Middle order for Bangladesh and Zimbabwe is virtually opening!

http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine ... pe=batting

Vusi's best batting average comes at #2, FYI.

Vusi average in middle order (positions 3-7) = 17
Vusi average as an opener = 23

Vusi is a shitty batter no matter where he bats, kind of like Ashraful, except Ash actually won his team a few games every now and then.

He's still hurting from the Bangladesh humiliation. I'll give you space to grieve Kriterion.

Vusi and Ashraful are both more talented than their stats suggest.
But I'd prefer to have Ashraful in my team (providing security keep the shady bookies away) - he had the ability to turn a match and be a match winner while Sibanda never did that.

When Im done grieving, 17 will still be less than 23. Vusi cant play spin at all...in the middle order he'd get eaten alive by Chris Gayle.

Stats cant lie after 100+ innings. Anyone who averages 25 after that many innings has that average because they arent good enough to average 26. Talent or no talent.
