England's Shitty batting lineup

Just checked the first-class averages of England's new batsman. Stoneman, Malan, and Vince all average under 38 and all are more than 27 years old. Honestly, I think England should have stuck with the youth of Hameed and found guys who at least average over 40 in fc cricket.

Same thing with Australia's fascination with Bancroft when they could have been giving Renshaw more experience.

Fair enough on Stoneman and Vince, but Malan was probably England's best batsman throughout the Ashes, he showed a willingness to grind out runs against a strong attack that his teammates often lacked.

As for Matt Renshaw, he'll be back sooner rather than later. Had an absolute horror start to the Aus domestic season, pretty much needed to be dropped. But since 2018 commenced he has looked well and truly back to his best.

Ballance is a much better batsman than Vince I really don't know why they're bothering with him tbh

you're right though England are in the midst of a batsman drought much like Australia, actually you could say that about every team apart from maybe India? all due to IMO t20 cricket, all these guys play too much cricket where your wicket is only worth something if you're striking at 150

Looking at the Australian Sheffield Shield this year not one batsman is demanding selection with his numbers and only Renshaw has scored more than 2 centuries. Callum Ferguson is top scorer with 780 runs !!!! I remember the likes of Katich, Voges, Hodge, Love etc scoring over 1000 runs in a season to earn themselves a spot on the next tour as a reserve batsman !!!!!

I think there are plenty of decent orthodox Test batsmen around. South Africa's lineup seems stacked, don't know why they are struggling so much. Markram, Amla, AB, QDK, thats a very solid top 6/7.

I couldn't think of a more appropriate subject line.
And while watching the match on Fox, no one is saying there are real terrors in the pitch. The consensus is excellent swing bowling & deficiencies in batting technique.
