I feel they'll invite Zimbabwe over to the North of India for a Test or two, as they'll fancy their chances
Hmm, that's one way to get Zim play tests in India again.

If they play in Bengaluru though, I'm sure Zim will have the upper hand. This is almost playing like the typical Harare pitch (may be with a bit more turn). Disciplined pacers like Jarvis and Chatara would love to bowl on this deck. But yeah, most pitches Afg has used in North India might be heavily spin friendly and could be curtains for Zim.

Hammered in the end. Welcome to test cricket. Things can go wrong very quickly

First every Test clash between these teams set for March 2019 in India.

3 T20Is, 5 ODIs, and 1 Test.

I expect Afghanistan to dominate in Asian conditions, but the last time these teams met in India, Ireland won the ODI series 2-1, IIRC.

Yeah I think Afghanistan will hammer them, they seem to be producing players left right and centre, whilst Ireland’s golden generation are getting on with age and a few have pulled the pin already and they don’t seem to have the players coming through at this point to replace them.

Why can’t Afghanistan invite Zimbabwe over for some Tests ???

Ireland do seem to be struggling for new talent. Will be an interesting game.

Perhaps this series was in the new FTP(?).

I think BD are hosting Afghanistan next year for a Test and we are touring Ireland for one in 2020 I think. I believe ZIM are touring Ireland for a Test next year.

Ireland and Afghanistan seem to be content with easing into Test cricket. They are only playing 3-4 per year in the FTP till 2023. I suspect the following cycle they will be looking to play 5-6 Tests per year.

There are some scheduled in the new FTP.

August 2019 its ZIM vs AFG in a Test. Presumably in ZIM given the time of year.
