Ireland in Bangladesh 2023 | Test, ODI, and T20I series

Starting with the ODI series with all 3 matches to be played at Sylhet.

Zakir Hasan is out injured and may miss the Test match as well.

Mehidy is questionable after being hit by a soccer ball in warmups the other day.

I expect Bangladesh to win 3-0 but I don’t think Ireland will just hand us anything.

For Bangladesh we need to see Tamim and Rahim get back into form. Want to see what rookie Towhid can bring in the middle order finishing role. I expect Shanto to really breakout after the solid England series. Won’t get many easier bowling attacks than this.

Shanto began the year with an ODI average of just 14 and a top score of just 38. A couple of half centuries later he’s bumped his average up to 17.83 and this series should look to take it well north of 20.

Ireland win the toss and put Bangladesh in. Thank God...really didn't want to stay up late to watch Ireland bat lol.

Sylhet has been quite batting friendly, but no international matches have been played since before COVID. Definitely hope Bangladesh can post a big total and get into some form.

Najmul Hossain Shanto has been in terrific form so far in 2023...can he continue?

Ebadat Hossain might be playing his first international at his home ground, along with his fellow Sylheti Nasum Ahmed. However hometown hero Zakir Hasan has been ruled out with an injury.

Bangladesh 50-2 after 10...couple soft dismissals of Tamim and Litton. Most of the runs being scored by running between the wickets...rare for an ODI powerplay!

Shakib with a very all rounder double of 7000 runs and 300 wickets. Almost impossible for any non-Asian to scale that feat. Doubt he will get to 400 wickets but he could get close to 8000 runs.

I’m very curious to see if Shakib retires after the WC. He hasn’t said anything. I know Mushfiq won’t retire until the BCB drops him (classic Asian retirement lol) and Tamim is still hungry as well. But with a net worth that must be near $10 million US if not more, I can see Shakib calling it quits after this year.

Apparently Ebadat clocked 149.6 km/hr in the 19th over of the first ODI. That is pretty quick.

Also hearing that Taskin reached the same pace during the WC 2022 in Australia. Don’t remember seeing him bowl anywhere close to that to be honest.

Just saw the Taskin clip…the speed gun said 141. But for some reason the ICC site has him listed at 149.56. It didn’t look that fast…????

Bangladesh have been impressive in the series against England, they won 4 out of 6 games against a side that is ODI and T20 World Champion. That's commendable.

Completely out played Ireland in the first game.

Tawhid Hridoy looked good, I think he can be a better option than Afif Hosein in the ODIs. Taskin is now Bangladesh's best bowler and the more I see Ebadot, the more impressed I am.

The form of Tamim and The Fizz should be a little concerning but Fizz actually is bowling well, just that he is not getting wickets.

Real greentop here in Sylhet.

BD can only manage 5 runs in the first 4 overs!

After a very slow start we're looking on par to get 350 here.

Shanto looking for his first century inshAllah.

No hundred but fluent knock by Shanto.

Mushy with a masterclass…not often a guy batting at 6 will get a 100 in LOI cricket. With Shanto and Tawhid stepping up, Mushy won’t be needed at #4 anymore and may actually be more useful blasting at 6.
