Was hoping to watch Ballance bat yesterday, but was stuck watching Cook & Carberry bat all day against Australia A. Should get a hit today before they decide to declare.

Can't see him playing in the first three tests now; was secretly hoping that Carberry failed and Ballance did well, so I could watch him play in the Ashes. :D

Yeah looks like Root will now drop back to 6 ......

I feel they made a mistake in moving him up to open in the last series ......

I wonder if Ballance can keep. They should throw him the gloves anyway, so he can replace Prior. He's not a real Zimbabwean batsmen unless he can keep wicket. ;)

He's listed as a keeper in this match, but that must be a mistake because Bairstow is in the team, and he took a catch. :)

Still think they should give him the gloves; not to help Australia btw. ;)

Ballance gone for 4, not pressing his case in this match.

Gary Ballance is now a chance to make his test debut with the news Trott has left the tour .....

You would think Bell or Root will move to 1st drop opening up the No.6 spot for Ballance or Bairstow .....

The only other option for England is to play Panesar and move Swann and Broad up the order but after failing to cross 200 in either innings I'm not sure the Poms will want to test their batting lineup .....

There would be few better places for a young batsman to make his test debut than the Adelaide oval which has always been known as a batting paradise ......

He's defiantly a good chance of playing, specially if he does well in the tour match. They could also go with Stokes; it would bolster their batting and bowling, not sure if they want to go that way or not. :)

Ballance makes 55 before being run out in the warm up match .....

Top scored so far but not sure it will be enough ....

Word out of the England camp is that Stokes will bat @6 and bowl 1st change allowing Panesar to come in for tremlett .....

Adelaide would be a much better place for Ballance to debut than a hard, fast and bouncey WACA pitch .....

With the series gone maybe a chance for Gary Ballance to debut at the MCG ....

Doubt it though since Stokes is playing well ......
