Collecting the speeds for every ball bowled was highly ambitious, and as it turns out the broadcasters didn't always display the speeds. So I ended up using cricinfo's hawkeye feature. I compared the speeds of several deliveries from the first game and they were exactly the same.

I only present here data collected from front line seamers - which I have arbitrarily set as guys who bowled at least 6 overs per innings. As long as they bowled 1 innings in the group stages of the tournament, they have been included. The data is only including the group stage (+ QF for BD and AUS since they had a washed out game) and represents the average speed of the fastest deliveries bowled in each innings (in mph). For the teams, the speed given is the average of the numbers for each bowler:

1) Australia: 92.1 mph

Haha, I'm American, had no clue about km when I first started following cricket. Most broadcasts display speeds in both metric and imperial. This world cup did not. But cricinfo's Hawkeye always uses mph.

Just a quick conversion chart:

100 mph = 161 km/h
93 = 150
90 = 145
87 = 140
85 = 137
80 = 128

Regardless of the metric, Zimbabwe are SLOW.
